Room Mama - Halloween Party

I have the honor of being Sloane's room mom this year! I didn't get the opportunity to do that last year for Wyatt so I am super excited to be able to fill the role this year. Part of the role of "room parent" is to organize the class parties. First up...Halloween Party!!!

About a month ago I sent an e-mail to the parent's letting them know the details of the party. (place, date, and time) I also let them know a few other school specific details that were important for the day of the party as well.

As the actual party date began to get closer I sent an e-mail to the parent's asking for treat bag donations. I mentioned small items other than candy would be GREAT. ;) Then I sent another e-mail to all the room mom's asking to each fill a role of the party. I broke it down as follows:

paper products
game #1
game #2

I try hard to find a craft that can be a keepsake/decor item instead of a throw away item. ;) I will totally use these fun wooden pumpkins as decoration each year around the house. I will give each student one of these to paint with a small dixie cup of water. While they paint I will read a few of the Halloween books we have ordered through the book orders. This helps keep the chaos low and them working quietly.

I grabbed some paper products from the $1 store to make it cheap, cute and easy. I only need plates and napkins. I asked that whoever brought the drinks bring something that's in an individual serving so we don't have open cups (and more trash). There are so many cute Halloween snacks out there to serve...I love the donut monsters

There are a lot of fun games HERE. They are even great for center activities for the teacher after the party you could leave the supplies. ;)

A few mom's are bringing fun games to play at the party as well. It's worked before to break them into groups but I have also played games such as BINGO with the entire class at one time. You may ask the teacher how the students work best to determine what game or types of games would keep the party running as smooth as possible.

The most important part is HAVE fun!!!!
