Show and Tell Tuesday...on a Monday

I completely missed the boat last was a CRAZY one. I vowed to make this one better and just as I did I was awaken 3am Sunday morning to the dreaded sound of a kid with the stomach flu. I guess that's what I get for trying to get ahead of myself. LOL!!!! Last Tuesday was Show and Tell Tuesday and it was "Show what's on your phone." I love learning about others apps and things that make their life easier. I have had so much fun reading others posts on this topic.

So....what's on my phone:

*I feel like my phone is somewhat a reflection of me- or how I like to be. Ha! I have everything organized and I don't keep many things stored on my phone.

*I don't like the notifications blasting that red dot with a number in the middle either but I can't bring myself to turn them off. I need to know they are there but hate when they show up. LOL!

My main screen.... I have 4 apps on top and 4 most common used items on the bottom. I like to be able to see the picture on my home screen. ;) 1 is below:

The second page has the rest of my apps. I have some in folders but some I leave out so I can get to them easier...

Nest app: we have a camera in the kids bedroom currently. It's amazing and it's a 2 way talk! We plan to add to the nest when the house is finished.

THINK DIRTY app: This one is somewhat new (6ish months) for me. You can scan the barcodes on your beauty items. The app rates the item on a scale from one to ten...depending on how good it is for you. It's an eye opener for sure.

I have a few apps. separated out in folders....

Not too much to share but thought it would be fun! Hope I helped make someone's day a little easier with an app idea or 2. ;)

Life lately...

We have been busy around here but with all fun and exciting events!! It's official...we are officially building a home!! It's been a wild ride and I know it's only begun but we are so excited. Summer seems to be flying by and we are doing our best to make the most of it. I don't want it to end. ;(

Climbing on rocks on our lot...currently their favorite thing to do. ;)

Wyatt had oral surgery a few weeks ago...there were a few objectives and one of them resulted in losing one of his front teeth. He wasn't upset about it at all, though he still isn't ready for the tooth fairy to visit?!?!!?

We celebrated Mark's cousin last weekend...girl party at the winery. It was such a great day! Wyatt and Sloane are the ring bearer and flower girl and THEY. CAN'T. WAIT!!! (one a little more than the other ;)

The kids and I spent time in J-town earlier in the week. My parent's hosted a party with some life long friends. It's so neat how she sends an e-mail/text message about a week before for a Wednesday night party and next thing you know the pool is full. Everyone brings a side dish and we have ourselves a party....

This past weekend we went back to Jackson for the afternoon to celebrate Willa (my sister's 3rd little girl). It was her first b-day party. #youreoneinamelon It was so cute!

Keep on going summer...we love you!!!

Workin' It Wednesday

I am linking up with Shay and Erika today to share a little about what our summer weekends look like...I have participated in other Workin' It Wednesdays before, you can read about Keeping the Kids Entertained,  Summer Vacations, and  Keeping our marriage strong, as well.

No 2 weekends look the same in the summer. We always have fun stuff planned! We like to change it up so we feel like we have made the most of our summers. ;)

Take weekend trips...

Swim....a lot!

Enjoy playdates with friends...

Go to Cardinals games...

Spend time with family...

Build Legos...

Go to Six Flags...

Celebrate summer holidays with friends...

And we can't leave out our fun summer afternoons swimming with cousins...

They are both enjoying camps too...

We are loving summer and don't even want to think about it ending. Thankfully the beach is in our near future as well. We are ready to have our toes in the sand!!

Pretty Patterns

I am super excited to share a fun activity today sponsored by It was so fun completing this activity with Wyatt and Sloane. Pick a rainy day and complete it inside or take the paint outside and enjoy the sunshine!!

This activity is a craft project and a math workshop all in one! Use found objects to encourage your child to imitate, extend, and create patterns. Your kid will develop her counting skills and spatial awareness as she assembles creative patterns.

What You Need:

  • At least 12 small found objects
  • Egg carton
  • 3 different colors of paint

What You Do:

  1. Begin by having your child divide the small found objects into 4 group based on their characteristics. Consider size, texture, weight, and whatever other qualities she decides to focus on.
  2. Once she's satisfied with the groupings, have her paint each group of objects a different color.
  3. After the paint has dried, take the lead and arrange the objects in the egg carton to create a pattern. Explain to your child why you situated the objects in that particular way.
  4. Now it's her turn; challenge your child to create a pattern of her own with the objects. Then, you should guess why the objects are placed in that order. What pattern has your child created?
  5. Go back and forth creating patterns until you each have a solid understand of the other's thought processes.
  6. Make it a little more interesting by "pattern dueling." Begin by creating a pattern with 4 of the objects and encourage your child to see if she can successfully finish the pattern.
  7. Let your child try to stump you with her pattern. Take turns until you've mastered the art of pattern-predicting.

The party continued...

Sunday evening after getting home from the lake we drove straight to another party!! Why stop when you get home right?!!?!? We were so excited to see our friends. There were fun water inflatables set up for the kids as well as other outside activities!

Before dark we tried to snap a "mom picture" since it seems we never make it into any other photos right?!?! ;)

As soon as it was dark enough the fun began...

The night ended with an awesome firework show on the back porch!!!

Friday Favorites

It's been a few weeks since I have participated in a Friday Favorites. This summer is FLYING by...I am not a fan of that AT ALL!! We live for summer around here and I am already dreading school starting back. ;( I have vowed to do a better job next summer of planning more down time. It's funny to already be planning for next summer but it's just the way I work. ;)

I am linking up with Erika, Narci, and Andrea to share some of my favorites.

First up: my TOP favorites!!!
Mark was able to be home with us for 5 days straight over the holiday. I love that fact that he is SO present in our lives. On Monday I had to give swimming lessons for a large part of the day. He took them to Six Flags (and Hurricane Harbor) for the day!! Dad of the year!!!

Spending LOTS of time in the pool has been a favorite of ours as well...
Sloane has been working on being able to get rings from the bottom of the deep end without having to jump in...she officially completed the task over the weekend and was SUPER proud of herself!!!
They are practically fish. ;)

Earlier this week I posted about some of our 4th of July activities...we had so much fun with family and friends for 5 days straight!!!

We also can't forget playdates. ;) We have been doing our best to squeeze time to play with our friends...after all that's what summer is all about right?!!?

Mark is gone on a golf trip this weekend and we have a whole lotta NOTHING planned. I can't wait!! I want to work on preparing a few car activites for our trip to the beach. We have some time but I enjoy preparing ahead. ;) We might end up at the movies and are praying the sun is shining to get some more pool time too!!!

Happy Friday!!!

KY Lake fun...

Last weekend we enjoyed time away with my family. We met at KY Lake! Growing up that was home away from home...there are many memories with my family on the weekends at the lake. It's SO MUCH fun to begin to enjoy the same memories but with your own kids. We are hoping there are many more...;) (Right mom and dad!?!?!? ;)

Wyatt and Uncle Billy

Sloane and Uncle Billy

Nothing beats a nap on the boat...

There was a little rain coming to so headed to cover for about an hour as it blew over. The boys all fished off the dock together. Wyatt was LOVING it!!

We spent all day Saturday on the water. We were so tired the evening! We came in as the sun was time of the day!! We grilled and enjoyed dinner at the cabin together. Sunday morning we got up and had to pack up. ;( but not before snapping a few pictures in the cousins matching outfits...

We had lunch reservations at one of our favorite spots:
Catfish Kitchen

We had a great weekend together and look forward to more KY lake memories to come!!
