What's Up Wednesday

It's the last Wednesday of the month so I get to share what's up with us on this awesome Wednesday. It's our first Wednesday of summer and the last one of May. We love Summer!! Shay, Sheaffer, and Mel host a link up giving bloggers the opportunity to share what's up with them. ;) If you care...read on and see what we have been up to...

What we are eating:

Monday-Memorial Day food ;)
Tuesday-Wyatt's b-day pick
Wednesday- Pesto meatballs  (a regular for us)
Thursday- Pineapple and Lime Tilapia
Friday- Pizza @ b-day party

What I am reminiscing about:

Our weekend was SO MUCH fun!!! We had an extra day and we could have totally used another. We just had the right amount of activities but still had time to relax.

What I am loving:

My new car!!!! It was a process but good things come to those who wait right?!!?!? ;)

What we have been up to:

A lot of celebrating THIS GUY turning seven!!!

What I have been working on:
Wyatt is having a friend party and a family party so I am in party planning mode!! He requested 2 different themes at the parties...ya know, to make things easier on me. ;) I have been working on getting everything ready for those events.

What I am excited about:

Dance recital for Sis is fast approaching! As you can tell she is already ready ;) It's always such a fun evening to watch her shine!!

What we have been watching:

What I am listening to:
Thanks to the new van I am NOT listening to Trolls, Sing, and other movies on repeat. All the praise hand to cordless headphones!! I am enjoying my 99.1 Christian radio ;)

What I am wearing:

Pretty much swimsuit, comfy clothes, swimsuit, then comfy clothes...and I don't mind it one bit!

What I am doing this weekend:
We have plans to do a lot of swimming, a few chores, and Wyatt gets a special b-day time with his Aunt Kiki and Uncle Kurt.

What I am looking forward to:

THIS!!! All. SUMMER. LONG!!! For the most part they are adjusting to staying up a little laster and sleeping in a little longer. It's super fun and makes me so excited for evening/night summer fun!!! Then they are super wiped by the end of the day and fall asleep before their normal bedtime routine...that's what summers are made of right?!?!?

Happy 7th Birthday Wyatt!!!

Dear Wyatt,

Our buddy boy...SEVEN. Seven years old, I can't even believe I am saying those words. I don't want you to grow up. I liked 6 but I actually think I might like 7 a little more so let's just stay 7 forever...?!?!?? Got it?

Your dad and I couldn't be more proud of the boy you are becoming. You have the sweetest most tenderhearted little boy. You are always wanting to do the right thing and really seem to struggle when (or someone else) doesn't make the right choice. This is a quality I pray you never lose. Your dad and I have always strived to teach you about a persons character...we talk a lot about how a person act when they think no one else is watching. Without question we know you are always trying your best even when no one is watching.

This year you grew so much! Not just physically either. ;) You finished Kindergarten with flying colors. You made some really good friends. I have to say it never gets old hearing that you are such a sweet friend to others. You still say Math is your favorite subject and Science is a close second. Gaga ball was a big deal this year in P.E. and you say you are pretty good at it. ;)

You played basketball this Winter and LOVED it! You are excited to give golf a try this summer and have even asked to play soccer in the Fall. We haven't ever been parent's that force you to try everything there is before age 5...well mostly because we like to be able to spend time together, go on vacation, and enjoy weekends. We knew when it was time you would ask to play...and you did. ;) I am so excited to see what the future holds for you down this path.

You are inches 49 tall and weigh 43 lbs. You wear a size 12 shoe. It was a HUGE deal for you to rid yourself of your 5-point harness in the car. Every time you were given the option you just said you were not ready. So you officially sit in a high back booster but you get to use the seatbelt!!! Sis is now counting down the days until it's her turn to use the seat belt but it's not looking to promising considering she is a pretty far ways from 40 lbs. LOL!

Speaking of your sister...your guys are pretty much the best of friends. I love watching you together. Don't get me wrong you both have your days but for the most part you are 2 peas in a pod. I can't only imagine how you and Ryder would have been. We talk about him quite a bit. Your sister seems to ask more questions that you but your questions are always "deeper" than hers for sure! It's crazy how much your little 7 year old brain wonders....

You LOVE Legos, Star Wars, and pretty much anything Disney. You can probably swim better than a fish ;) and can FINALLY jump off the board and touch the bottom of the pool. You were so close last summer but never made it. If asked your favorite food you would list: shrimp, steak, crab legs, and now the newest addition...oysters. Your love for foods that most kids wound't even put on their plate is so fun! We enjoy trying so many new foods  and flavors with you.

We love you so much!! We couldn't be more proud of the boy you are becoming...

Happy 7th B-day Buddy!!!

Honest Feeding Story-

From the moment I was asked  if I wanted to breastfeed my children the answer was "yes." I planned to do everything in my power to make that happen. After a traumatic birth I felt like the least I could do for Wyatt was provide him with breastmilk. After all, breast is best right!?!?  It took almost 5 days for my milk to come in...then after that things seemed to go pretty smooth. I knew the lactation consultant was only a phone call away.

I strictly fed Wyatt without a bottle for a few months...then I wanted to be sure I had milk "in stock." Wyatt ended a successful breastfeeding journey right before his first b-day. We flew out to Disney and he began drinking and eating table food and hasn't looked back since. What better place than to have your first real meal than with The Mouse right!?!!?

Then within 30 days of him turning one we found out we were expecting again. Sloane Michelle was on her way!!! We were so excited!! Within a few months of finishing off the milk I had stocked up we had another infant in the house.

With 2 babies in the house my eyes started opening to a cleaner way of living. I immediately began the Honest Company month boxes. My milk came in a little fast the second time but I didn't seem to use the lactation service to it's full potential. It took lots of ups and downs (including VERY painful feeding) for us to figure out Sloane was tongue tied. This is something common among children and it's an easy fix but they can also grow out of it. We opted to go that route and I began pumping. Sloane was given breastmilk through a bottle...I couldn't have made it through the first few months without this nipple cream

As time passed and Sloane grew my milk wasn't enough. My body wasn't making enough to support her body. Thankful for supplements and formula we made it all work! I am so thankful for the journey we took with both Wyatt and Sloane while they were still in their first year of growth.

Even though we no longer have babies in our home
we still strive to make honest healthy choices on a daily basis.

Beyond Measure- only 10 days...

There are only 10 days until Wyatt turns SEVEN. That's big stuff....SEVEN!!! Obviously this time of year is always tough. There is so much joy but we also have the sadness that lingers over us as we remember Ryder as well.

Christ is with us every step we take, each day that goes by...a few years ago a friend asked me to share a little about how God has worked through our situation. At church today this video came to mind and I felt lead to share it with you.

I hope you take a second and watch what the Lord has done...

Mama always said...

I have mentioned before how my mom sends me e-mail of devotions, verses, etc. that she finds that I might need/want. It's usually spot on with what's going on in my life or situation. Mama's always know, right?!?!? I save them until I get a few that I want to share together in a post. Today's the day!!! I hope you take time to read, listen, and let it all soak in. ;)

"I want you to think of somebody who irritates you — maybe somebody you’ve got a strained relationship with or someone who just rubs you the wrong way. I have two questions for you: Do you pray for that person? Or do you just complain and grumble and nag and nitpick? If you prayed more, you’d have a lot less to grumble, complain, nag, and nitpick about. It’s your decision."

"One of the signs that envy is in your heart and you need to eliminate it is that you constantly use this phrase: “It’s not fair.” “It’s not fair that he gets to do that and I don’t!” “It’s not fair that it’s easy for her and not for me.” “It’s not fair that their kids got the award and mine didn’t.” “It’s not fair that they can afford that vacation and I can’t.”
Envy is actually a battle with God. You’re in a war with God every time you envy. Because what you’re saying is, “God, you blew it. You didn’t do it right. You didn’t have the brains enough to make me the way I ought to be. Because if you really loved me, you wouldn’t have made me me. You would have made me somebody else.”*the rest can be read: HERE

The number one question I’m asked as a pastor is, “Why is this happening to me?” I’ll tell you why: It’s to help you grow up spiritually. Everything in life is designed to help you grow up spiritually — the good, the bad, the ugly, the stuff you bring on yourself, and the stuff that other people do to you. God is not the author of evil. But God can bring good out of bad things.
Instead of saying, “God, why is this happening to me?” say, “God, what do you want me to learn from this?” Every situation in life will either make you bitter or better. It’s your choice how you choose to respond to it.
Every problem has a purpose, and the purpose is to help you grow up spiritually to be more like Jesus Christ. *You can read the rest HERE
You’re tired. Fatigue is not a foreign word. You know all too well its fruit: burning eyes, slumped shoulders, gloomy spirit, and robotic thoughts. You are tired.

We are tired. A tired people. A tired generation. A tired society. We race. We run. Workweeks drag like Arctic winters. Monday mornings show up on Sunday night. We slug our way through the long lines and long hours with faces made long by the long lists of things we need to do, gadgets we want to buy, or people we try to please. Grass to cut. Weeds to pull. Teeth to clean. Diapers to change. Carpets, kids, canaries — everything needs our attention.

The government wants more taxes. The kids want more toys. The boss, more hours. The school, more volunteers. The spouse, more attention. The parents, more visits. And the church, oh, the church. Have I mentioned the church? Serve more. Pray more. Attend more. Host more. Read more. And what can you say? The church speaks for God.

Every time we catch our breath, someone else needs something else. A taskmaster demands another brick for the newest pyramid.

If you want to make an impact with your life, you’ve got to do one thing: You’ve got to get control of your time. Your time is your life. If you don’t learn to manage your time, you won’t go very far in life.
Ephesians 5:15-17 says, “Be very careful how you live. Do not live like those who are not wise. Live wisely. I mean that you should use every chance you have for doing good, because these are evil times. So do not be foolish with your lives. But learn what the Lord wants you to do” (ICB).
We all have the same amount of time every week: 168 hours. It’s what you do with it that counts! You only have a certain number of days you’ve been allotted in this world, and if you blow them, you’ve blown it! If you waste time, you’re wasting your life. If you kill time, you’re committing suicide. Your time is your life. You have to stop and ask, “Is this the best use of my time? Is this the best use of my life?”

Weekend Recap- loads of fun edition

Another weekend has come and gone...it was a busy one for sure! I knew I would be too rushed to post this yesterday so I hope you didn't miss my post all about Erin's  Faces. She is WAY TOO good to miss. ;)

It was a late start for Sloane so we made it one for Wyatt too. ;) What's a tardy when there are only 8 days left of school!?!?!? We enjoyed breakfast together at Dunkin Donuts.

Friday was preschool picnic for Sis. She had so much fun! It had rained the night before so the field was closed. Thankfully they had bounce houses and fun activities set up on the black top for them to play.

My sister was away for the weekend so we had the pleasure of keeping sweet Willa. We adore her and she was such a great baby! Obviously everyone was IN LOVE...

Friday night we had a birthday party at Sky Zone. It was an awesome place. I am pretty sure Mark is still sore today, LOL! I can't wait to put that place on our rainy day list of places to go during the summer.

Saturday morning Mark played in a golf tourney while we all spent time hanging out with Willa. We even made a trip to Target together plus a few more errands. ;) Mark finished and him and Wyatt made a trip down to Jackson...for my NEW CAR!!! Best Mother's Day EVER!!!! A big thanks to my BIL for so much help through the entire process. While Mark was doing all that driving...we had friends swim with us.  The weather was perfect and we soaked up every bit of sunshine we could for the day. Well, except for baby Willa who played in the shade.

Sunday morning we woke and all made it to church on time! It was a great service celebrating mothers.

Mark's sister and husband hosted a Mother's Day brunch for his immediate family. It was so sweet of her...we had a great time together!

After brunch we stopped into the mall to do a little shopping before heading back to "pool it" again. ;) The rest of the evening was great with pool, sunshine, and Chinese food!!!!

An amazing ending to an AWSOME weekend!!
