On Monday Erika posted about how she cleans and she asked others to share how/what they do to keep a tidy house. I started thinking about how we keep things going around here and thought it might be fun to continue the trend that I started and share how we make it work in our current house.
Since I am home during the day I have taken on the role of the "house cleaner." Monday's are the only days I have 3 hours without kids. I use that to clean the house. I, like Erika, could never get behind the cleaning different parts of the house on different days. I don't like not having that moment where it's ALL clean!
I do a topical clean each time I use the bathroom. I know this is something that isn't a big deal since we only have one bathroom on the main level but it helps on deep clean days. I usually do a quick clean once a day in the bathrooms. I wipe down counters, toilet, and even swiffer vacuum the floor. This REALLY helps!
I do laundry EVERY DAY! Yes, you read that right. I do laundry everyday. It keeps things flowing smooth and I don't get behind. I usually acquire 2 loads a day (I should note I am pretty weird when it comes to separating, detergent, drying items, etc.). I start a load while I make dinner and then am able to start the other load as we clean up everything and get ready for bed. Knowing the laundry is caught up really helps me feel better through out the day.
Another thing that really helps is that I make all the bed in the house every day. This is HUGE. The bedrooms are all very close to each other as well as the common area so it helps when we walk by that we see the rooms are clean. Growing up we had to make our beds every morning before school...if we didn't we had to make everyone's bed in the house the next morning BEFORE school. Wyatt and Sloane have started making their beds and it's tough for me...I am being honest. They do their best but goodness...it takes everything in me to not straighten it out...BUT I DON'T!!! ;)
Something else I do is a quick floor clean each day. Like I said earlier I have a swiffer sweep and vac floor and it has been a game changer. It's easy to use and works amazing! I use it after meals, snacks, and even crafts.
Lastly I keep my countertops clean...this is a big one. I have shared that when we first got married Mark put the coffee pot back in the box each morning after making his coffee. There is something to be said for clean counters. ;) Find another place to put your papers. Find another place to collect everything. It will make your heart a little happier...to have a clean kitchen counter. I promise.
So now, like Erika, I ask...what do you do to keep your house picked up? To keep your house clean? Please share...
