Extra, extra, read all about it...

Friday Favorites....reading!!!

I really do enjoy reading! When we took our "adult trip" to the beach in October I had lots of opportunity's to read. I took something light-hearted and easy to read.  I decided when I came home from vacation I was going to continue to read. I was going to make time to do it in my daily list of things I do...

I love the way Melanie Shankle writes. She super easy for me to relate to and makes me LOL, like for REAL! She talks about being a mother to young children and the stuff that comes along with it. ;)

Because I liked Sparkly Green Earrings so much I immediately got on Amazon and purchased this one. It didn't disappoint! I can't wait to pass this book on to a friend who loves to read and values friendship as much as I.

We were traveling again when I finished Nobody's Cuter Than You and I was totally ready for a new book. I knew during travel I was going to have quite a bit of time to read. I have a list of books I want to read saved in my phone...this one was next on my list. It was GREAT! I have read of few of the other Duck Dynasty books and this was a lot like the others. If you haven't noticed I enjoy light, easy to read, books that relate but have great story lines to them...;) This one Jep and Jessica discuss where they started and how far their relationship has come...I enjoy reading about family's who have God in the center of there life.

I started this one on our trek home from CA. I need a highlighter!!! It's a little different than the others I have been reading but it's great. If you are caught up in the everyday things of life but find yourself afraid of stopping because you don't want to face the "small stuff" this is for you. Another book to add to your list no matter your age. ;)

That brings me to current read: stay tuned for my thoughts ;)

Our Weekend

We had a fun weekend and I can't believe I didn't take very many pictures. ;( I am usually better then that. LOL! Friday evening we had dinner with Kyle and Shelly. It wasn't planned until that afternoon so homemade pizza and chocolate cake was on the menu. The kids played together the entire time and I don't think we got up from the dinner table and chatted the night away! Many laughs FOR SURE ;)

Saturday morning we watched Cruz play basketball for a local Upward team. So cute!! It was fun to watch...

We ate lunch with Maw Maw and Paw Paw at McAlister's after the game. Saturday afternoon we had to run a few errands then we spent the rest of the evening at home. Mark and Wyatt (and sometimes Sloane) have been watching all the "old" Star Wars. It's taken them a few weeks but they finished the last one Saturday evening.

Sunday morning we got up and went to church. We lunch then the boys had a date to the "new" Star Wars. ;) Wyatt They were SUPER excited!!! *Mark and I have decided to take the kids on more "dates" by themselves and it has been so fun! Sloane and I "shopped" for birthday presents and came home to wrap for the evening's events.  We had a blast as well!

After the boys got home we loaded up together and headed to Maw Maw and Paw Paw's house to celebrate January b-days. There are 3 birthdays within the first 15 days of the new year! We had a good time together. After the festivities ended we got home just in time for bedtime. ;) What a fun weekend!!

Snow Day!!!

We don't sleep with our phones in our bedroom but last night was an exception. With the thought there might be a snow day I needed to hear the call from school. Not having to turn on the tv and getting a recording and a text is a genius idea!! I love it!! I have to be honest...I wasn't super excited in the beginning for this snow day. I was ready for 3 hours to get stuff done around the house and a few errands. Since Christmas vacation, then actual vacation, then Wyatt being sick...I haven't had a moment alone in a while. (Totally not complaining but phew...I was really ready to knock a few chores out, moving on...)

I quickly got over it because I don't remember one snow day growing up my mom didn't LOVE!! I want my kids to remember them just like I did...I put a smile on my face and began to plan the day!

We already had plans to meet friends for lunch so we moved that up in the day since there was no school!! The famous Chick fil a play date ladies!!! It's been a while since we got to hang out so it was much needed! I didn't know how long it would take us to get there due to the weather so we left really early. (As much as I love snow, I HATE driving in it!) We arrived a little early so I checked my phone while the kids played a bit. During the normal scroll through Instagram I saw Fixer Upper, Chip and JoAnna Gaines wrote a book!! We love them and LOVE their show so much. I was sporting my Magnolia t-shirt so it totally required a selfie right!?!?!?!?v

Love all these littles (and their mamas) and our time together!!!

Wyatt and Sloane have been asking to sled for a while now. They had never been "real" sledding. We didn't even own a sled. I loved sledding as a kid so today we stopped by Target and bought the LAST 2 sleds, praise the Lord there was 1 green and 1 pink- phew! After lunch we ran back home and bundled up. A friend suggested a school nearby that has a big hill they go to to sled...we don't have any real sledding hills around us.

I didn't know what hill she was talking about until I pulled one has this kind of "real" hill in their back yard...this was like the real thing! LOL! To say we had a blast would be a total understatement!!!

Wyatt was a little nervous in the beginning but by the end was running and going downhill on his belly...SO MUCH FUN!!! A few things he said while sledding "this is epic," and "this is why I love Winter!" ;)

Obviously, Sis was fearless...

We stayed for a LONG time before getting back in the car to go home. Thankfully we stripped down to the last layer of clothes that was still dry for the ride home. We stopped by Daddy's office to tell him about our fun afternoon then went home!

What snow day is completed without hot chocolate, marshmallows, and whip cream?!?!? We got in our comfy clothes and enjoyed our hot chocolate together. They want to take Mark back in the morning since Thursday is a "late day." We shall see....;)

Cheers to making memories and enjoying snow days!!!!

Show and Tell Tuesday

What a great day we had yesterday with the kids enjoying that extra day off school. Wouldn't it be great if every week started on Tuesday?!!? LOL...I know, then Tuesday would become "a Monday," I am aware. ;)

I am joining Andrea today to bring you my Momfessional Moments. Everyday I wake up and attempt to be the best mom I can be. There are evenings after the kids go to bed that I think back and wish I could change the way I handled some of the situations from the day. I also am someone who is honest and transparent as I go about our daily life...I mean we are all in this boat together!!?!? I can't be the only Mama living on prayer and Diet Coke.

So with that I had a hard time coming up with these moments today:

* Sloane is usually dressed for the day before 7:30am even if we have no where to go. I am pretty sure I created this though...When she was a baby I would get her dressed when changing her morning diaper. It seems like a waste of time to put her pj's back on so...each morning when she gets up and goes to the bathroom she returns asking for the clothes for the day. Which leads me to the next one...

* I physically dress my kids. They can both dress themselves but it takes FORRREVVERRR....I know I should be a little more relaxed about this but that's for another day-maybe when they are older. LOL!

* I also pick their clothes out. There are many other ways my children have learned to "express themselves." Clothes aren't one they get to choose...I usually give 2 choices but I am the one who has the ultimate say. Just being honest ;)

* I drink more Diet Coke than I do water. Well, this isn't actually true anymore but it used to be. At the beginning of last summer I cut back A LOT! I still drink more than I should but it's my guilty pleasure. And since we are being totally honest my craving isn't gone unless it's a diet coke from McDonalds. ;/ Keepin' it real folks!

* I wish the little's school had a drop off line for preschool. Gosh, I feel terrible even typing that out. I do enjoy walking them to their door and kissing them goodbye but goodness...there are some days it would be super nice to be in my comfy pants with a hat, and maybe even my house slippers!

* I begin washing clothes/towels faster than you can take them off. This is a subject that is discussed very often between Mark and I.  If you take something off and think it's not dirty (which I don't know how that's even possible?!?!?) it needs to find it's way RIGHT back in it's place. If it's on the dresser, bed, floor, etc. it will end up the in the washer pretty fast. Then when you do looking for that item a few hours later and it's still spinning around soaking wet-it's not my problem. If only you would have put it away. As the kids get older they are catching on to this as they have many favorite clothes they were each day around the house and know if they don't put it back there is a chance it won't be available when they want it next time.

* When I taught school I "got ready" the night before. Before kids, when I taught school I used to get ready for the day after my shower in the evening. Like put make up on and straighten my hair before bed. Obviously this was before I cared about my skin much less washed it every night...goodness, what has turning 30 done to me!?!?!

* I put our alarm clock "away" every morning. I don't like the way it looks on our nightstand. It's in the line of sight when looking into our room. When I finish making the bed I move the alarm clock behind all the pillows so it's out of sight. *Fun fact: when we were first married I used to have Mark put the coffee pot back in the box every morning after he was finished. ;/ I know, terrible right?!!? Now 8 years later the ONLY thing that stays on our kitchen counter is the coffee pot.

Well, there you have it. My Momfessional Moments...brought to you on this SUPER cold Tuesday!!

The New Year

Happy Monday friends!! I hope you all enjoyed the weekend...the little's have no school today so we aren't back to routine yet, thank goodness for that one more day. ;)

Thanks to the app Word Swag I have a fun image with a few of my goals for 2016. I know it's important to have goals but until recently it wasn't something I took seriously. What's more important than having them is writing them down.

It doesn't have to be fancy...but put it somewhere you see often. I had this picture printed. I have 1 in my Bible, one as a current bookmark, and one hanging where I see it everyday. Take my challenge and list your goals somewhere you will see everyday...only GREAT things will come of it!

Cheers to 2016!!!!

Friday Favorites- Current television shows

I am linking with Erika, Narci, and Andrea posting about my Friday favorites. I texted Erika because I was sure they had a schedule of topics and she so kindly said " no, you can post about whatever you want- whatever are your current favorites." LOL! So...I decided since tv series are all starting back up again that I would post about our 5 favorite shows to watch in the evenings once the kids are in bed.

Let me preface by saying...our shows are our "thing." We don't go on a lot of date nights that are just ones we get dressed up for and leave the house. That doesn't mean we don't still make time for just us. ;) We set up our weekly routine with "our time," and it's something that I really look forward to...

Wyatt and Sloane are usually in bed around 7pm each night. (give or take a bit) We don't mind the 6-7am wake ups because we know it means we have our evenings together. ;) There are shows Mark enjoys more but there are also shows I enjoy's give and take. I watch his and he watches mine. Here is our weekly line-up...

It seems there are quite a few but thank goodness for DVR!!! We don't always get to watch them the night they air. We save some for nights there are less...YAHOO for Friday Favorites!!!
