We had so much fun this weekend. I didn't want it to end...;( Friday Henry was still hanging with us so we kinda laid low. He had never had a cake pop so we had to fix that...LOL! I am pretty sure he loved it! Mark golfed Friday afternoon during rest time.
Friday evening we celebrated Laura's BIG 3-0!!! Katherine is visiting from China for 7 weeks and she surprised Laura and came to the party as well. We had such a great time visiting and catching up together.
Saturday morning I tried a new recipe for breakfast. Thanks to my sister I have found 7 Layer Charlotte and her AMAZING recipes!! This one is the Mexican Brunch w/fried egg. It was super easy and soooo good!! (We replaced the white potatoes with all sweet potatoes and the cream cheese with greek yogurt. I also only added lime juice and a salt to the avocado.) We had some leftover and I can't wait to wrap it in a tortilla!! YUMMM!!!
Oh my goodness this girl!! She loves to bake with me...We are working our way through the AMAZING Mix and Match 101 cake cookbook. We have had so much fun with this so far. It's separated into holidays and seasons. We will bake both 4th of July cakes over this weekend for 2 different parties. I didn't ask her to pose like this...believe it or not it was totally on her own! LOL!
Saturday afternoon we met cousins at the movie theater to see Finding Dory in 3-D. The theater we went to have a little "drive in" set up where you can order food. We ate lunch before the movie together then we headed in to get out seats. The kids had already watched it but Mark and I had not. Wyatt has been a bit unsure of 3-D movies due to a bad experience in a 4-D movie at Disney when he was little. (We totally scared him for life. #parentsoftheyear) We haven't pushed him to watch another movie in 3-D but have continued to ask him if he wanted to...FINALLY he said YES!! We all had a BLAST!! It was such a cute movie and a perfect one for 3-D. It was so pretty too! You can barley see Sis at the end of the row because she wouldn't take her eyes off the screen long enough to smile. #youknowitwasgood #shealwayssmiles #camerahog As you can tell....Wyatt was SUPER excited!!!
Saturday evening we laid pretty low. I ran a few errands BY MYSELF which NEVER happens then we had leftovers for dinner. The boys played Lego Dimensions and the new Star Wars Lego movie they just got....Mark and I were in bed by 10pm. TOTALLY NOT NORMAL, Ha ha!
Sunday morning everyone was up and ready for church on time! The weather was so stinky. ;( It was only 63 degrees! It kinda messed up the planned wardrobe. LOL! It rained, rained, and continued to rain.
After church we came home and ate lunch. Sloane and I did a little baking and made 2 trips to Dierbergs. LOL!
Sunday afternoon we went to a party with friends! We all had such a blast. The kids ran around...and around...and around!! Their little friendships are too precious. I have to say...the adult friendships are becoming something pretty precious too. ;)
*Disclaimer- it was a #merica party at it's best*
Monday on the actual 4th we changed up our normal plans a little. In past years we have gone swimming but this year all there was was rain, rain, and more rain. ;( We spent some time at Mark's parent's with family. We had lunch and played games together.
Monday night we went over to some friends house...we have been hanging with them pretty much since we had babies! It's so fun to watch them grow. It's been really fun lately for the kids to remember from year to year. I love seeing these family/friend traditions begin to blossom. The Kona Ice truck came through their neighborhood before fireworks started. It was SO FUN! The kids thought it was so cool. They even got to add their own flavor!!!
Happy 4th of July!!!
