I am super excited for Summer! We love everything about it around our house. It's totally my personality to already be thinking about it being his "last" summer. I am already ready to "soak up every minute" with Wyatt (and Sloane) this Summer. For the veteran mom's I am sure you feel different or are used to the feeling but me...not so much...it's Wyatt's last Summer before he started kindergarten. ;( This mama isn't ready for it...AT ALL!!!
With all that said I am looking forward to all the fun stuff I want to do this Summer. Besides living at the pool I want to have some fun things planned at home for daily use as well. We totally aren't a "tech-free" family and I will never claim to be or even have a desire to be, it's the world we live in folks but...I do want to limit the time spent in front of the TV and on the iPad.
Wyatt and Sloane don't nap. They haven't since they were 2 years old. That is one of the reasons they have an "earlier" bedtime than some other kids their age. With all that said...I want create a few "quiet boxes" for them to play with in the afternoon/early evenings. Don't get me wrong they have plenty of toys but I want to create some structure and individual challenges for them as well.

I plan to have 5 categories and 2 boxes of each category. That means at all times I will have 10 boxes, essentially I will create them in 2 week periods. I plan to keep the same 5 categories but to change the activities every 2 weeks....I hope that makes sense. The categories will be somewhat broad, in my option...but as follows
3. Fine motor
5. Free play
I might find these don't work but this is my start. I am excited to begin gathering the items for each box soon. I want to make sure I do my research as I don't want to spend lots of money on these boxes...less is best. ;) I will continue to post about my progress!! This teacher mom is SUPER excited to get started!!
