Friday Favorites- Teacher Appreciation

It's FINALLY Friday!! I am excited to have another fun weekend ahead. Really that just means 1 more week closer to summer break!! I am linking up with Erika, Narci, and Andrea for another Friday of favorites. Next week is Teacher Appreciation week so I thought it would be fun to share a few fun idea I found to help the teachers in your child's like to feel extra special next week. I have blogged in the past about a few of the fun items we have taken to Wyatt and Sloane's teachers. You can read the posts HERE and HERE

Last year we started the week by bringing donuts and leaving them in the teachers common area...I found this cute printable to add. I just tied it with fun ribbon on the top of the box. ;)

The kids only go to school M, W, F so we brought something cute each day...on Wednesday of the week we took a fun jar filled with gumballs and I had a fun apple vinyl I put on the jar. I can't find a picture of them but you will have to take my word for it...they were CUTE!

I know this one is all over the internet but you can't go wrong with a little can get the printable HERE

I love a good printable that you can attach to a purchased item but I don't think anything beats a homemade can help your child fill this out and do their best by coloring the rest of the sheet...

What are you doing for Teacher Appreciation week? What are some things you have done to show a teacher they are extra special? I have created a Pinterest board with a few fun ideas I found and can't wait to try. ;)

Happy *almost* May!!

I really can't believe I am creating my goals for MAY!!! This year is almost 1/2 over already. The days are long and the years are short" is totally where my life is right now. I am making an effort to REALLY enjoy these long days. LOL! I have been writing my goals out each month and it's really been encouraging to me. I am a list person but this brings it to a whole 'nother lever! ;) You can read a few of my past months HERE (April), HERE (March), and HERE (February).

So to recap April: (I pretty much failed this month...big F over here)

1. Clean up/out garage
-This one I did actually make progress on...I have cleaned it out and put some stuff away. I still need Mark's help getting the rest into the attic though. Once we get it cleaned out I would like to organize it a little more as well. As the kids get older our outside toys are getting more. ;/

2. run 2x per week, drink H2O
I totally failed at the running part. Well, working out in general. ;( My eating has been actually really good as well as the water drinking so at least I am 1/2 there!???!!? #someday #pointsforchasingkids?

3. Make a spring bucket list w/Wyatt and Sloane
Ok, this one...WOW! I totally skipped spring and have moved right into summer. I just can't help myself. I can't wait for school to be out!!! We have already started making our summer bucket list! ;)

4. Finish Quite Your Mind plus 1 more book
Another fail ;( I posted the other day about my reading time. It's been nonexistent for sure! I really enjoy reading. I plan to set aside some time each day during the summer for all of us to read together. I am really excited about it!

5. Go on a DATE!
YAHOOO!!!!! Mark and I attended an 80's Night (KIDLESS)  at Wyatt and Sloane's school earlier in the month. It was so much fun! Since the school is 3 yrs. to 8th grade it's always fun to meet other people that we will be spending so much time with for the next 10 years of our life!  We are also going to a Cardinals game on Friday KIDLESS as well!

Now...onto MAY:

What's Up Wednesday?

I am linking up with Shay, Mel, and Scheaffer today. This link up is the last Wednesday of each month...
* What we are eating this week...
During the week we follow a pretty strict routine lately. We have tacos (lettuce shells), turkey burgers, BBQ chicken, shrimp, and CARDINALS game on the menu this week

* What I am reminiscing about...
Those SUMMMMMEEEEERRRRRR NIIIIIIGHTSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!...said in true GREASE fashion... (and days FULL of  pool, sun, and time together with NOTHING to do)

*What I am loving...
This weather! It's been AMAZING!!! The sun and the breeze has been GREAT!!!

*What we have been up to...
Busy, busy, busy...we have been spending time with friends and REALLY enjoying our Friday Fundays. ;) I can't wait to create our summer list of things we want to do together!!!

*What I am dreading...
This kid turning SIX #cuethetears #stopgrowing #ican'tstandit

*What I am working on...
We are working on the yard, garage, and screened in porch to prepare for the summer months. We LOVE spending time on the back porch...nothing beats being outside on the porch with a FAN and SCREENS blocking the bugs during those summer nights!!

*What I am excited about...
(Last year's recital)
Sis has her dance recital next month. She LOVES dance so much. She has really been working hard on her dances and can't wait to get on the stage with family and friends watching!!

*What I am watching/reading...
Unfortunately my reading is slacking. ;( I am REALLY going to work in my reading this summer. I plan to schedule "reading" into our daily routine for summer, something I am really looking forward to. Watching though....LOTS!!! Mark and I have lots of shows we watch. You can read about our shows HERE

*What I am listening to... sounds a little weird even to myself. I have been using the time 2 times a week for the 3 hours I am alone to just work in silence. I love me some good music but I have been praying aloud and just enjoying the peace and quite alone. I don't like to have too much but this has been the perfect amount.

*What I am wearing...
I am loving my shorts, tanks, and flip flops in all colors ;)

*What I am doing this weekend...
It seems we are SO BUSY the next few weekends. It's all fun stuff but we have something everyday of the weekend. This weekend I have a baby shower to attend. We have a "fancy feast," which is an all day event, Cardinals game, a friend staying at the house, and I am sure Mark will squeeze golf in there as well.

What I am looking forward to next month...

SUMMER BREAK!!!!! (and swimming)

Let's Talk- weekend recap

Friday Favorites totally fit with the make up link up!! I am linking my Friday post to this link up! You can read it HERE

This weekend FLEW by...I am hating that the weekends are getting faster and faster!! Friday Wyatt and Sloane both has a field trip. They had a blast....
Thankfully Mark golfed while we went "field trippin" on Friday. After the field trip we did a few things around the house before having an impromptu BBQ with friends! To say we had SO MUCH FUN would be an understatement!! 2 families 8 kids....phew!! It was such a great time!!!

Saturday morning we woke up late. Both Wyatt and Sloane slept in their bed ALL. NIGHT. LONG. #thatsabigdeal Sloane had a tea party b-day to attend and the boys had their own plans. It was such a sweet party. What 4-5 year old doesn't love a tea party!?!?!

After the tea party we picked up the boys and went to watch our niece at dance competition. After dance we had the evening to ourselves. We decided to stop of a fun local place that famous in STL! Family FUN!!!

I can't believe I don't have pictures from Sunday. We had such a fun day! We were up and at the 9am church service. We had a fun lunch with cousins...ALWAYS a good time. After lunch Mark tried to head to office to work a little but he forgot the keys so back home we went...;( After getting a few things done around the house we attended a housewarming for Kirsten (Mark's sister) and Kurt. It was a perfect day to entertain! The weather was perfect!! After everyone left some family went to dinner together. It was a PERFECT way to end the weekend!! Bring on the WEEK!!

Friday Favorites

It's finally Friday...I thought this day might never come!! Phew, we made it! Sloane and Wyatt have a field trip today so if you think of me I will be hiking in the woods and learning about animals. ;/ ...while Mark is golfing. LOL!! (It works well though because he will finish the same time as us...just in time for Friday Funday!!!)

I am linking up with Erika, Narci, and Andrea again for another "Friday Favorites."

I am not really someone who wears lots of make up or stays up with the current beauty trends. I haven't been that kind of girl. If I am being honest, I don't think I even wore actual foundation until after I got married. LOL! Over the past few year #maybebecauseIturned30 I started taking better care of my skin and even becoming interested some beauty products. Well, enough to find a few favorites. Ha ha!

1. Urban Decay Naked 3 I love this pallet! After a girl weekend a few years ago I came right home and purchased this. The colors are perfect and can be changed up so much. I like that there are lots of neutral ya know...when I want to get dressed up to go to Dierberghs. #totallyjoking

2. It Works Preventage day cream, Repairage night cream, and Lip & Eye cream -I LOVE this stuff! Remember how I said I started taking care of my face...well I started using these about a year ago and can't say enough good about them. They are plant based so they are free of any harmful chemicals for your face. The night cream is SUPER light which isn't something that all night creams feel like....the Lip & Eye is LIFE CHANGING. I put a few spots under my eyes before we walk out the door for school and BAM- no bags or purple under my eyes! It's UNREAL!! I started putting it on Mark (yes, I actually put it on him with my own fingers) and the purple under his eyes is almost completely gone. He totally was a doubter because they had been there since he was a kid! So cool!!

3. OPI Drip Dry- Oh my goodness...this is LIFE CHANGING!!! My SIL introduced me to this stuff a few months ago. Thank goodness she keeps up with the beauty trends! It's amazing! You just drip it on freshly painted nails and they are dry to the touch in ONE MINUTE and COMPLETELY dry in FIVE minutes. You read that right....FIVE MINUTES!!!! This is great for me as I am usually painting my nails as I run out the door. Another bonus is Sloane doesn't have time to mess them up before they are dry. She is totally a girly girl, funny how that works right, and is pretty good about sitting still while her nails dry but this stuff is AMAZING!

4. R + Co Dry Shampoo - My parent's got me a year of Birch Boxes BEST. GIFT. EVER. last year and it's been so fun! Like I said earlier I am not one to try a lot of different stuff or even know some of these product exsist. Ha ha! The Birch Box has been perfect for me. This dry shampoo has been one of my fav. products so's not super white like some of the other brands. It smells SO GOOD too! It lasts all day and makes your hair still really easy to style.

5. It Works Stretch Mark cream - My all time favorite changed me. ;) I am kind of joking but kinda not. I carried twins to 36 weeks...I have been stretched in more areas than most. It's one thing to have the marks and have the kids to show for's another to have a body/stomach and not have the babies to show off. A friend of mine gave me a bottle to try and IT WORKED! It has been an amazing transformation and I can't say enough good things about it. You can't knock it until you try it!!!

6. Super City Block - Ok, when I said I didn't wear make up until after I got married...this was the only thing I did wear in while I was in college. ;) It was because of the sunscreen. I had totally forgotten about it until Mix and Match Mama mentioned it the other day. I immediately ran out and got some before we went to Disney in March. It comes with a 25 SPF and the 40 SPF. I didn't mess around and went straight to the 40. It was PERFECT for the FL sun and I will continue to use it throughout the summer. It's hard to find something with 40 SPF that doesn't have an sunscreen feeling on your face. I put this under my powder foundation and can't even tell I have it on. My face didn't burn on vacation either. ;) I am looking forward to using this all summer!

*I didn't get paid for to talk about any of these favorites. ;) They are all because I love them! Your welcome...

Weekend Recap

We had such a great weekend! It was so busy but the weather was amazing...we soaked up as much as we could. Look at this handsome little boy, where did our baby go!?!?!

Friday after school we pick up the kids from school and went to lunch. We planned to see the new The Jungle Book so we picked a restaurant in the same plaza. TGIF also had a perfect patio. ;) I had a cookie pick up meet us there so it worked perfect!

We saw The Jungle was AWESOME!! Mark played golf Friday afternoon so we surprised him and washed his car while he was gone. It was so fun to have warm weather and a hose outside!!

We recently discovered SnapChat...#wecan'tstop #wyattisterrified #hilarious

Saturday morning we took advantage of the sunshine and took a family bike ride. We enjoy riding and are so lucky to be so close to a really nice bike trail. There is a play ground along the trail so we made a pit stop and let Mark the kids play. ;) We rode about 15 miles!

After the bike ride we grabbed lunch at Subway which is next to a golf naturally we made our way inside. They all assumed their normal places...

Saturday afternoon we attended a BBQ celebrating a 30th b-day for a friend. It was so much fun I don't even have 1 picture. ;( There was lots of kids, food, and perfect weather!

Sunday morning the kids woke pretty early. We were on time for 9:00 service. #thatsawin We met some family at our normal Sunday lunch spot  #mcalistersisourjam

After lunch Wyatt and Sloane got to play at Maw Maw and Paw Paw's for a little bit. They helped outside as the pool prep begins!!! It was a win for everyone because we took a quick trip to a golf store that was going out of business....well, I guess a win for everyone. I was just along for the ride. ;)

The boys are OBSESSED with Lego Dimensions so Sis and I played some major hopscotch while they had their game time. It was so pretty outside and she is a SUN LOVER!!  This girl...keeps us on our toes for sure but has such a sweet tender heart! I don't know how it's even possible but she gets prettier and prettier everyday. ;)

We ended the weekend with a summer dinner and early bedtimes. Mark and I had DVR 'ed the Blues game so we were able to watch that to end our weekend....

Friday Favorites

I just love spring and summer clothes, especially cute kids spring/summer clothes!! The kids and I had to run an errand to the mall to make a return the other day and I literally was stopped in my tracks at the display in Gymboree's window. We like their clothes but during the summer they always have some sort of "beachy" or "island" line that we can't live without!!! This year is no exception!

I decided to link up with Erika, Narci, and Andrea with some of my current FAVORITES!!!

I mean...look at this: I mean you can't go wrong with a baby in a hat like that!!! ;)

I told you their summer line was adorable!!! The seahorses are so cute! I also love the way their website is set up. You can shop with the outfits already together...including matching bows, hat, socks, shoes, etc.

And because I love boys clothes so much...this gingham shirt would top off Wyatt's handsome look for sure! I totally added this one to my cart!!! #onlytochurch #beingreal

And lastly...Sister girl...whoa buddy- I say I love the beach clothes...then I show her and it's over! Anything with a mermaid she "has to have." LOL! She says anything that has ocean stuff on it makes her feel like a "hula girl." #insertlaughingemojihere

Another thing in the cart...FLAMINGOS!!!! Sloane once had an entire flamingo b-day party. #itwassofun Because of her "taller but thinner" body she is hard to fit in the swimsuit area but these fit GREAT!!

And just because it's fun to "throwback" here is a family picture of Sis in her first "summer outfit" from Gymboree: #familypictures #wyatturnedtwo #theylovedit

My Story....

We have been singing this song at church on Sunday mornings for a while now.  I fell in love with it the first time I heard it. The words really speak to me... As moms we find ourselves really reminiscing as our children turn older each year. As we come upon Wyatt and Ryder's birthday my prayer has always been for others to see Christ's love through me...and not only by my words but by my daily actions. I have a story, I have a song...and Christ is the one who wrote it. And he did so very carefully....

If I told you my story
You would hear Hope that wouldn't let go
And if I told you my story
You would hear Love that never gave up
And if I told you my story
You would hear Life, but it wasn't mine

If I should speak then let it be
Of the grace that is greater than all my sin
Of when justice was served and where mercy wins
Of the kindness of Jesus that draws me in
Oh to tell you my story is to tell of Him

If I told you my story
You would hear victory over the enemy
And if I told you my story
You would hear freedom that was won for me
And if I told you my story
You would hear Life overcome the grave

If I should speak then let it be
Of the grace that is greater than all my sin
Of when justice was served and where mercy wins
Of the kindness of Jesus that draws me in
Oh to tell you my story is to tell of Him

This is my story, this is my song
Praising my savior all the day long
This is my story, this is my song
Praising my savior all the day long

For the grace that is greater than all my sin
Of when justice was served and where mercy wins
Of the kindness of Jesus that draws me in

Oh to tell you my story is to tell
Of the grace that is greater than all my sin
Of when justice was served and where mercy wins
Of the kindness of Jesus that draws me in
Oh to tell you my story is to tell of Him
Oh to tell you my story is to tell of Him

This is my story, this is my song
Praising my Savior all the day long

As you read a little bit of "my story" remember that no matter what YOUR story is he wrote it...he is with you every. step. of. the. way....

Mark was in chiropractic school and I was teaching at a small christian school when we found out we were "unexpectedly expecting." We had been married for almost 2 years. We sat in the waiting room at the Dr.s office and were so nervous. We knew the Lord had a plan and we were clinging to that...

We left the Dr. office that day with the news we were having twins! It took some time to set in but we were so excited. I carried the identical twin boys with few complications full term when I went into labor in the middle of the night.
We checked into the hospital and before I knew it was being rushed to the OR. Mark wasn't allowed in the room with me and I was put completely asleep. I woke up to Mark and the Dr. telling me Ryder was in Heaven and Wyatt was here on Earth with us. Our lives were forever changed.

No matter whether you know God or don't know God hurt, pain, and sorrow are real things that affect us. The difference is when you know there is a God who loves you "beyond measure" you are able to deal with the pain and sorrow different'y. Not necessarily more easily because it's not easy...for anyone.

It's almost been 5 years since Ryder passed away. There still isn't a day that goes by I don't think about him. To know each time I look at Wyatt there would be another little boy EXACTLY like him here with us makes my heart ache.
The personal growth I have experienced in 5 years has been tremendous. I was never one to get mad at God or even ask "why" but I was one to be overcome with extreme sadness. There were nights I was awake all night just crying. There were days that I just cried...and cried...and cried. The sadness was deep and had become physically debilitating. I would feel so guilty for being sad. I had Wyatt, a healthy baby boy. Why was I sad? I had crazy thoughts go through my head...even "maybe it would be better if I was with Ryder and Mark was here with Wyatt." I knew those thoughts and even feelings I had were from Satan.

Mark and I talk freely to each other about our feelings and even talk about Ryder. Both Wyatt and Sloane know they have a brother in Heaven. Ryder is our son, their brother, and we know one day we will all be together again but...until's my job/our job to make it evident to others around that we serve an awesome God. Struggle is real, we all have it. If I wouldn't have God to lean on in that incredibility dark time, if I didn't have a God that loved me through the hard times and not only loved me but loved me "beyond measure" I wouldn't be here on this screen today.

This May will mark 5 years and this is the first time I have ever "talked" about Ryder publicly. Like I said the growth I have experienced in five years is tremendous. I have learned things about myself, my husband, family, and even friends that I don't think I would have if I had not gone through this loss. The Lord has been dealing with my heart for about a year now. It has been one of those things where you kinda battle with "I can't do that" he says" yes, you can" "no, I can't" when finally he spoke to me and laid on my hear 1. I wound't actually be doing it. HE would. HE wrote this story, I just need to tell it. and 2. the struggle is real, young mom, wife, etc. we all feel struggle for various reason and if by me sharing helps one person, just one person it was totally worth it. After all we will never truly understand exactly why things happen to us we just have to realize we aren't in control and we serve a mighty God, he is a God of comfort and peace. He is in control and he loves us ALL beyond measure!
