Christmas Home Tour 2013

I am joining Kelly's Korner today for the Christmas Home tour. I love this post so much! I love looking into other's homes and see how they decorate and it's even better when it's Christmas decorations. So pull up a chair, a sugar cookie, and a peppermint mocha as you enjoy our Christmas decorations 2013. You can also see 2012, 2011

This year I opted for a real evergreen wreath and I LOVE IT!! It's my favorite Christmas decoration this year. ;) I plan to leave it up as long as possible! I also love the fact that I don't have to store it until next year. LOL!

I love the way this tree turned out. I think it's actually the 3rd year using these decorations but it always looks different. ;) It's pretty all day long but just like most Christmas trees....the evening time is the BEST! Here is my nightly view from the couch....not to bad!

We have many ornaments and are still collecting them but at this point for fear of breaking we haven't gotten them out. I think next year may be "the year" though. The kids loved decorating with the plastic balls so I can't imagine what they would be like if they got to use real ornaments.

I tried to keep things pretty simple this year. (It's less to put away. Ha!) I am trying to minimize in many areas of my life and Christmas decorations is one of them. We just don't have all. As much as it kills me sometimes I have to be more practical than sentimental and it's really hard for me. I digress...moving on. ;)

We don't have a mantel (don't worry, it's in my top 3 musts have for a new house) so we make due where we can...

Like I said, we don't have a mantel so I used our shelves this year. I usually have our family photo books on these shelves but I switched to past Christmas pictures with Santa and even a few of our Christmas cards as well. I have quite a few Christmas books so I added some of those in as well.

Earlier in the week Wyatt asked when we were going to finish making the house beautiful. I was a bit confused when he informed me the tree wasn't enough Christmas decorations. Who is this kid!?!? LOL! So...together during nap time we made this fun little pinterest garland. He had a blast and was just enough for him. As soon as Mark walked in from work he said "Daddy, wook our houf is beautiful now." be in the mind of a 3.5 year old?!?!?

Wyatt's cousins got him this fun LEGO advent calendar. He is obsessed and I am sure like all little's doesn't understand why they can't ALL be opened at one time. Patience my dear, patience....;)

Another area I am really trying to relax...THEIR trees. The each decorated them by themselves. Pretty sure they have re-decorated about 100 times since the first but oh well. It's theirs right?!!?! It takes a lot of self control on my part to keep my hands off, even when they aren't looking.

Lastly, our Christmas cards. The part few years I have displayed them in a chicken wire frame display but I don't have a spot for it this year. I love saving them each year on a ring and as you can see we have been doing it for a few years now but I like to display them before just sticking them on the ring...this string on a door in our living room was perfect this year. The kids are really into them and LOVE looking at them all day. We talk about the people and even pick a few to pray for at dinner, it's awesome.

I hope you have enjoyed looking about and seeing our Christmas decorations. I can't wait to sit and enjoy the others who linked up!
