May is about MOM- part 1

I am linking up with Amy @ Not Your Average Crazy for a 3 part linkup for Mother's Day. I think it will be fun to do this! There are 3 parts...first are questions for myself (May 5th), then for my mom (May 12th), then for the kids (May 19th) -aka Wyatt. ;)
Today is the 5th so....

1. Before you ever even had children, how did you feel about being a mother?
I couldn't wait! I always wanted 4 children, I just *knew* I would have 4 boys. Ha! If I am honest I know being a "mother" isn't for everyone but I always knew I wanted children. There wasn't ever  a question....

2. Since becoming a mother, what is something that has happened that you never thought would?
The loss of a son, Ryder Curtis

3. Is being a mother less difficult, more difficult or exactly how difficult you imagined?
MORE difficult but with that said WAY MORE rewarding than I imagined possible...

4. What is your fondest memory of being a mother (so far)?
I have so many fun memories of being a mother...some of my favorite things so far are:
-kisses their boo boo's still make them feel better and sometimes make the pain completely disappear
-the way they both say "mama"
-the way Wyatt says "love you toooo"
I love being a mother!!!!

5. If your children only learn one life lesson from you, what do you hope it is?
I pray daily that both our children will look at Mark and I as Godly, Christian parent's who taught them about Jesus Christ.

Today the STILL Project is celebrating their one year anniversary. This is something I/we hold so dear to my heart. The STILL standing project is the only publication dedicated to infant loss, stillbirth & infertility. They are requesting that people send pictures and use social media on May 5th to prove they are still standing after such a mind blowing loss.

You can read about them:The STILL Project fb page

Today is also International Bereaved Mother's Day...something not everyone knows and/or even thinks about. Sadly, not many even acknowledge this day. Today I am STILL STANDING as we acknowledge this day.
I love you Ryder Curtis Schmitz...
you will always be in my heart and I am so blessed to call you my son!

  1. Your answers are beautiful. It is always so saddening to hear about the loss of a child, and my heart aches for you. Wyatt and Sloane are so beautiful, and I can't wait to see what you can get out of them in the third part of this party. I look forward to reading more of your story in the future :)
