Thanksgiving 2012

We always spend Thanksgiving Eve at my parents house. Since we eat breakfast with her side of the family by 8am it's nice to already be there.
We rotate between my parents and her 2 brothers houses...

it doesn't matter who hosts the menu is always the same. Homemade biscuits and gravy:

Before my dad's family came for lunch we attempted family pictures.

Once they got there we had a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Since my g-pa passed there hasn't been anyone to step in and cut the turkey. Mark did it...he didn't really have a choice. :/

Everyone passed around the babies and some even got a little shut eye. Ha!

After a quick bite we loaded up an headed back to STL to celebrate with Mark's family. We planned it perfectly with nap schedules...

We got to his parents and were able to snap a few pictures with some of Wyatt and Sloane's great g-parents.

We had our 2nd Thanksgiving feast and dessert. We got settled in, card games started and it happened. Wyatt was playing with his cousins and hit a wall. Literally :( He stood up to take off running and ran right into a corner. It was pretty obvious he needed stitches. Mark and I loaded up and took him to the ER. Sister stayed with the family.
He was such a trooper! He was put in the straight jacket but they were able to glue it because it was such a straight clean cut. They said we were the 11th one in tonight with a boo boo from playing with cousins. :( We were back home in less than an 1 1/2 and Wyatt wasn't even phased.

Wyatt loves his cousin Cruz SO much! I felt like the rest of the evening I followed him around telling him to calm down. LOL! We had such a great Thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for! ;)

Breakfast cresents

Mark leaves for work about 1pm on Tuesday and Thursday. On those days the office is open late so he isn't home for dinner with the kids.
We have really tried to make breakfast our main meal of the day on those days, even if we all are just having cereal.
I have tried to make some fun recipes to "change it up" a bit. Yesterday we had crescent rolls breakfast style. ;)

I cooked bacon and scrambled eggs. I mixed cheese with the eggs and then chopped the bacon really small. (I used my Pampered Chef food chopper.)

Once I had all the ingredients ready I mixed them together and put a little in the middle of each crescent roll.

Baked as directed on the crescent rolls...

Ta-da!!! It's super and easy...everyone loves them!

A few days in J-town

Last week the kids and I got to spend a few days in Jackson. It was so nice to stay at my parents without any major plans. We did go down to hang out with this little beauty...

More pictures and a post coming soon about our new niece! (BTW: I took that picture.)
We had so much fun during our visit.

My parents have their neighbor and her daughter over for dinner once a week. They usually end the night with a board game. Yes, that's Mall Madness. Be jealous, my mom knows what to keep packed away!! Wyatt even got in on a little shopping action.

Who get ice cream for lunch? This kid...only when you run errands with Eesie! ;)

We spent a lot of evenings hanging out like this. Eating popcorn and playing with Legos.

We also got to be on the official 1st trip out for baby girl Zetta. If you are wondering where we went...Target of course. ;)

It was a great few days of relaxation before the holidays!

Dickens Villiage

It's a tradition for me to set up my mom's Dickens Village every year. I really love doing and hope that someday I have a space to create something so neat.

My dad or brother usually has to haul the big box home from storage and bring it in the house. We joke with my mom that she needs a plastic box because the cardboard one is about to loose its bottom. It's still hanging on...

I love our small traditions that mean so much! It was still daylight when I finished putting it up so I had to wait for my mom to send me a picture with all the lights on.

The picture doesn't do it justice. ;)

I love decorating for even small holidays. My mom did it growing up at our house and I loved it! Christmas isn't the only time to be festive! ;)

We have used "thankful garland" since Mark and I got married but this year I wanted something a bit different. I took our thankful leaves and put them all on a tree.

I loved it! We even added leaves for Wyatt this year. He was so excited to be a part of it. I am so glad I am able to make these small memories with my children as we include them in holiday traditions.

Good for the soul...

Today I met a childhood friend for lunch. It was just what the Dr. ordered. I ran a few errands before (*Hobby Lobby-dangerous without children*) I met Ashley.

We met at a fun place downtown. I love the clock in the square downtown. There is something to be said for small town Christmas decor. ;)
We had a great lunch and even better conversation.

Oh I wish we lived in the same town. I loved our time!

Peppermint Play-doh Playdate

This morning we had a play date with a childhood friend of mine and her little girl Brynn.

Since I am in town visiting for a few days we scheduled some fun stuff! ;) We went to Whitney's today to make peppermint play-doh!

They had a great time playing together. After we made the play-doh we tried to get a one wanted to look. :/

We couldn't leave without having a little snack. Got any grapes...?!?!

We had such a great time. Thanks Whitney and Brynn for letting us come play!

It's happening...

A few nights ago I heard Sloane fussing during her evening "cat nap." (We are in the process of dropping that nap but some days it's just needed.) Anyway...
I went in to her room and it was super dark. Since it gets dark so early I forgot to turn on her little light. I reached down into the crib and felt all around. I couldn't find her anywhere! I started freaking out. I felt around and called for Mark. When we turned on the lights this is what we found...

She had pulled herself up and was just smiling so big! She has pulled up a few times on different things but not yet in her crib.

I am glad I am on the "cautious" side and already moved the mattress down a while ago. :/

She did this a few weeks before she turned 8 months...where has time gone? Next step...walking...ahhhh!!!!

Happy Birthday Liv!

This morning Wyatt and I attended a b-day party for a friend of Wyatt's who was turning the BIG 3!!!

Wyatt and the Birthday you can tell he really likes to have his picture taken these days. ;) The party was a pottery painting was so fun! Every little kid got to pick out a little item to paint and 3 colors.

Wyatt chose yellow, blue, and green. He knew exactly what he wanted...

He decided to paint a tree...such a boy!!!

We sang Happy Birthday and ate cupcakes and snacks.

We all watched Liv open such thing as personal space in a three year olds world. ;)
It was a great party and also a fun time for me to be able to visit with other moms!

Date night ;)

I know it's been forever since I have posted. :( I can't remember the last time this many days have past. I have so much to blog about too! Oh well...I will get caught up soon.
Tonight Mark and I had an adult evening. We met a few couples/friend from Logan at a fun restaurant.

The food was great and the atmosphere was perfect. It was nice to chat with friends we haven't seen since Mark graduated. I am happy that just because they are no longer in school we all make it a point to stay in touch.

Great night with great friends!

Hand print turkey...

This morning we hosted a play date at our house. It's always so fun to get together with everyone and chat while the kids play.

I made a few snacks for everyone...

Then decided that a craft would be fun!

We had a blast and the kids played so well together!

Yes, that's my arm holding Wyatt in the picture. He did not want his picture taken but as you can tell I didn't care. Ha!

We had a great time! It's something I needed today.
