Laying Low

We spent most of the weekend relaxing. It was so nice! It was Mark's weekend to work at the clinic so Friday night as soon as he walked in the door he grabbed the kids and headed to his parents. He spent the evening with his dad while I had a "miche purse party" at my house. It was a blast! Mark's aunt has started selling the purses so I scheduled a party with her! ;) It was sweet to be able to spend an evening with ladies as Mark hung out with his dad and kids. So important!!! Saturday the kids were up early ready to play. Lol!!! Mark had to be at the clinic until noon so I took the kids and ran a few errands. We stopped in to see Daddy at work too! Wyatt though it was so cool and I am sure Sloane enjoyed the extra attention. When Mark got home we loaded up and headed out again. It was a nice family afternoon. We went to Golf Smith for Mark to get a new putter. (*aka Graduation gift from the kids and I :) Wyatt absolutely loves that store. I am not just saying this because his dad loves golf and was a former D-1 player. He asks to watch golf on tv, swings everything like a golf club, and can putt like a crazy kid. LOL!

Saturday evening one of Mark's friends was in town from TN so he had a few guys over. They enjoyed sitting on the back screened in porch until wee hours in the morning. He loves those guys so much. He doesn't see Mat and Joe much but the still make it a point to spend time together when Joe is in town.
Sloane went to be early so Wyatt and I had some fun times together...

No lie-he watched the iPad like this for a good 10 mins. Silly kid!! Sunday morning we went to church and out to eat with family. That afternoon Mark played golf with friends. He had to try out that new putter...duh! I finished up a few projects I ha started in the basement...

We had a great relaxing weekend. I was so not ready for Monday! As I see and hear everyone beginning to get their kids ready for school I am so thankful its not time for that yet. We are loving our little ones!!!! ;)

Making daily tasks easier...

Right now it seems we are in the summer "go,go,go mode." I think it's the teacher in me but for some reason, even though Wyatt isn't in school, I treat summer like its a free for all. ;/ Yikes, I know. We stay up late, sleep in (as much as a 4 month old does), eat a little junkier, and even skip naps. I never thought I would be doing any of those things. Ha! I am such a rebel right?!? Anyway, the past few days/weeks we have really been working to get back on a routine. Summer still has a few weeks but with a 2 year old a routine doesn't happen overnight. I wish it did!!!
Mark's school is coming to a close and within 4 weeks we will be calling him Dr.!!! That's so crazy to me-Mark has been in school for the entire 8 years I have know him. I am excited for this next step in our life but I would be lying if I didn't say I am also a bit anxious.
Mark has been super busy finishing his graduation requirements, working his SIA shifts, doing Expedite stuff, and even spending time at his brother's office where he will soon be working! With all that said I have had lots of time with just the kids by myself. I love that time and it's not something everyone gets to enjoy so I do try to cherish every moment. I have started doing a few things that have made life a bit easier. They aren't huge things AT ALL and they take seconds to prepare but seem to make day to day life easier. I have seen/read about a few of these ideas lately and have started adapting them to our life.

1. I make sure to start/load the dishwasher every night before bed.
2. Unload the dishwasher as one of the very first things I do when I wake. (this keeps dishes out of the sink throughout the day because they can go straight into the dishwasher)
3. Have 3 small laundry baskets instead of one big one. *dirty diapers (since we use cloth), lights, and darks* Our laundry room is in the basement so this also makes it easier to carry. Once downstairs I can also separate a little more in detail. (I am pretty OCD when it comes to my laundry)
4. Split up fresh fruit and veggies as I am unloading the groceries. This is so annoying task because I hate going to the grocery. I find if I don't separate it, peel it, etc. as soon as I he home we don't eat as much. This also leads me to the next 2...
5. Wyatt's choices: He is all about doing things on his own lately this includes wanting to choose what he eats for breakfast, lunch, and snacks. He eats what eat for dinner. I created a spot in the refrigerator that he can reach and filled it with things he can eat. This is where the already splitting up fruit and veggies comes in handy. I can toss 1 baggy of fruit and one veggie with a few additional items for the day and we are set.
6. I use this same concept in the pantry. He has a special basket in a shelf he can reach.
7. Choose one big task a week. This is huge for me. I pride myself in being a multi-tasker. LOL! With 2 children and naps that don't yet overlap I have no "catch up" time during the day. They are also not old enough to send them to play on their own while I check things off my list. With that being said I able to wok on one large task a week and not feel swamped. I don't get upset when someone needs my attention because I know I have planned time throughout the rest of the week to complete this task. (even if you are a "SAHM" you can plan time to work on tasks during the time you are home) This really keeps my anxiety under control. Examples of "big tasks": paint bathroom, touch up paint in rooms, go through closet, etc.
8. (and final for now) Keep fresh flowers some where in the house. Fresh flowers are just pretty. I just grab the $7 bunch from the grocery about 2 times a month. That's only $14 a month-I know I would spend that amount on something dumb anyway...I keep telling myself I am going to plant some I can just pick and bring inside but it hasn't happened yet.

This turned out to be kinda lengthy post but I wanted it to be an encouraging one to others. I have found these little tasks make daily life easier. Give one a try or even create a few for yourself. I would love to hear small things you do to keep the" flow" in your household. Hope you'll are having a great weekend and enjoying the Olympics...we sure are!!!

First golf club....

This day needs to be documented...Mark had to go to Golfsmith to get a few things before his golf trip a few weekends ago. His mom went with us because Paw Paw needed a new driver. (pretty much Mark was picking it out and she was paying. Ha!) We loaded up and all went together. Wyatt is just like his Daddy and his love for golf already. No joke-Wyatt asks to watch golf on t.v. They had new child putters and Wyatt was in love! I think he would have stayed and played on the putting green all afternoon. He loved it so much he talked Maw Maw into buying it for him. It's only right she buy his first club right?!? ;) He won't put it down...just look how excited he is in that picture!!!! We love our little future golfer!!!! Thanks to Maw Maw for the club!

Wedding weekend

Yesterday Mark and I attended a wedding of a college teammate of his. It was so cute! It was nice to catch up with many people from college we haven't seen since we graduated.

My parents also went to a wedding at the same time as us. It was so sad to miss for me but it's hard to be in 2 places at once. :(

My g-ma came over to my parents and watched Sloane. Which really consists of her holding her for hours. Gotta love great-gma's!!! Then for Wyatt we actually "got a sitter." It was the first time Wyatt has ever been watched by a non-family member. (besides my BFF but she is pretty much family) He did great. She said he was very well behaved too! Always makes a mama proud. ;)
The wedding had so many cute touches...

It was a great evening! Happy Wedding Day Emily and Todd. Congrats-thanks for letting us be a part of your special day!!!

It's OK Thursdays

I thought it would be fun to link up with Neely today for "It's OK Thursdays."

It's OK to...

- want to stay in your pj's for the entire day
- change the paint color in a room on a regular basis
- still want to drink Diet Coke like water even though I no longer have a gallbladder
(Don't worry mom I am not going to)
-to LOVE seeing Christmas stuff being set up in stores
-to want Sloane to be just a bit bigger so she fits into tons of cute clothes that are waiting on her

Big Boy Bed

These past few days have been crazy ones. I feel like I say that a lot but this time it's been a different type of crazy. Last Friday I had my gallbladder removed. I didn't think it would be a big deal at all. After 2 c-sections (one being put to sleep) really close together I didn't think a laparoscopic minor surgery would be much to recover from. WOW, I was WRONG. I know quite a few people that have had this surgery and it seems like it wasn't a big deal. Phew, it's Tuesday and I can still hardly even walk. I am not supposed to lift more than 10 lbs. which is a bit of a challenge with 2 children over 10 lbs. and one nursing. ;( Oh well...thank the Lord I am so blessed with amazing family and friends that have been helping Mark take care of me.

In the meantime we have made a huge change around our house. Wyatt is sleeping in a big boy bed! Mark and I made the decision to get Wyatt a twin bed from IKEA on our last trip.
We set it up while he was visiting my parent's for a few days. I was also able to get the comforter and bedding ready too! I have always dreamed of my son having this bedding set from Pottery Barn...It's so traditional. We are still working on the rest of the room-paint, decor, other furniture, etc. When I went to get a picture from PB-kids website of Wyatt's bedding this is what I found. Can you believe that name?!?!? Seriously...I cried. As weird as it sounds (because it's bedding) it makes this bedding even more special to me. He will be taking it to college...ha ha!!

When he came home we took him back to his room to see it and it was a success! He loved it! He has been taking naps and sleeping at night it in.

~LOVE~

Sloane is 4 months old

Sloane...oh sister girl! You are such a beautiful little baby. This month you have grown so much. You rolled over when you were only 3 months but this month you accomplished the belly to back roll while also perfecting the back to belly roll. You are a master now! Eesie was lucky enough to be the first one to witness the roll while Mama and Daddy where are IKEA. I weighed you last week and you weighed 11 WHOLE POUNDS!!! LOL! This month we started using the small cloth diapers. They fit perfect. I am so glad I bought all new after Buddy moved up a size. I love the sized diapers so much and they don't make them anymore. Good thing your mama thinks ahead. You are still wearing a size 1 diaper if we use disposable. You still are wearing 0-3 month clothes. The newborn onesies are just to short. The outfit in the picture is 0-3 and seems to fit pretty well. You are SUCH A DROOLER! I don't think your brother was ever this bad. So lady like right?!!?? Ha! We constantly are changing your bibs and clothes. I would hate to have a wet shirt on so I don't like to leave you in one either. I just bought a big pack of bibs and plan to have them monogrammed this week so you can be cute even with the bibs on. You still have your hands in your mouth ALL THE TIME! You will take the paci but prefer your fingers. You eat about every 3 hours and have been a great nurser this month. Your brother was gone for almost a week and you only took a bottle a few times. I think you enjoyed having all the attention on you. You prefer to nurse over taking a bottle and don't like taking a bottle from me at all! You also LOVE to smile. It's been fun to watch Wyatt try to make you laugh this month. So cute!!! Your giggle is contagious!!! We love you "Sloaney Bologna!"

Can't pass up a good deal!

A few weeks ago I got an amazing deal on a STOKKE Tripp Trapp chair! We only have 1 highchair and Buddy was still using it. He loves "his chair" but we wanted to try to transition him to a different chair before it was time to sit sister in a highchair. This chair is AMAZING. During this sale I even got the highchair accessory FREE! It is such a great chair. I know this chair was a little more in price but I am all about making an investment in items that are going to last a long time! You can check out the chair here: http://www.stokke.com/en-us/highchair/tripp-trapp-product-concept.aspx

It even comes in fun colors! We got a black one because this chair is actually a chair at our table due to the lack of space where our table sits. ;) If I was creating a list of "must have" baby items this would be on it!

Some days I take pictures and some days the little's just aren't feeling it. Ha! These pictures were taken a few weeks ago...

Happy 4th of July

This morning we headed to the Jackson park. There is a mud volleyball tourney going on and lots of the festivities...

Then we went to my parents house. (my family from CA has been here since Sat.) We have had so much fun visiting with them.

We were able to get picture of g-pa with my dad, brother, and Wyatt. ;)

The whole crew!!!

We tried to get a picture of Wyatt and Sloane. He was using his "gentle hands" but really wanted her to look at the camera. Ha!

Fast Eddies

Last weekend we had dear friends move away. God is in complete control of the situation but it still kinda makes a heart ache. :( The weekend prior a few couples headed for a day of fun together.

We were able to get babysitters and head out for the day. We had lunch at Fast Eddies! It's always great cheap food and a good time.

Celebrate USA

Last Tuesday we were invited to a friend's house to watch a mini pre-4th of July show. The firework display was pretty much in their backyard so we had an amazing view! We didn't know how the kids would react but they did amazing. Wyatt loved loved loved the fireworks. It was so sweet. It was such a great night. There are the moments I wish I could hit the pause button and that night was one of them. We were with special friends celebrating together!
