"Let's go on Vacation

Saturday morning Mark had to work in the clinic so Wyatt and I decided we needed to get out of the house. ;) The PAT (parents as teachers) program was putting on fun event near our house so we decided to give it a try. It was so fun! Wyatt was able to play in the ocean...

Dig for worms...

Climb a mountain...

Also the fire dept. was there with a truck for the kids to sit in and he pictures. Wyatt hated it...he wouldn't sit in it or even get near the truck. Interesting?!?! He did love his hat AFTER we got home!

It was a great time with Buddy but we still couldn't wait to Daddy to get home!

Sister

Sloane is growing so fast! I don't think a person can understand the true meaning of "time flies when your having fun" until your a mama. Yesterday Sloane had a cute little dress on (thanks to her Maw Maw) so I decided to snap a few pictures.

Then she had had enough...

Happy Friday!!!

Spring Fun!

Today was another warm day in STL. Also another day without ac in our house. The inside thermostat only got to 80 degrees today but it was still nice to run a few errands during the warmest part of the day.
I had a few errands to do for Expedite but then it was time or fun! We headed to a park that's near our house...

We played until Sloane was ready to eat and headed back home. As soon as we got in the door I heard the ice cream truck. I decided it would be a fun thing for Wyatt so we ran outside and he had his first ice cream truck experience. ;)

He knew exactly what he wanted!

Such fun memories with my little Buddy!!

Easter (Curtis Style)

We arrived in Jackson late Saturday night. It was nice to be at my parent's Sunday morning as we were able to attend church as a family. I tried my best to have us at least coordinate on Easter morning for church.

The Easter bunny also visited while we were at Eesie and Poppie's! The Easter bunny sure does love Wyatt and Sloane! ;) The baskets were filled to the brim.

Wyatt loved looking through his basket but he had to guard it from the pups!

After church we came home and played...

We enjoyed dinner with my dad's side of the family and Wyatt played with his Great-Grandma!

It's probably been Christmas since we have all been together and able to take a picture...my mom was SO excited! ;)

Easter (Schmitz style)

We celebrated Easter a little different this year. Mark's cousin (and her daughter) was in town and it was his Maw Maw's b-day we celebrated everything all at once on Saturday evening at Mark's parent's house. Mark's Maw Maw was able to attend from the nursing home and it was a surprise that his cousin was in town. ;) It was also her first time meeting Sloane!
Wyatt was able to play with Kylie a few different time while she was in town. They had a great time together. It's so fun watching him pretend play with other children.
We tried to get a "grandchildren" picture...that's as good as it gets folks!
The Easter bunny hid a few eggs around the house...

He LOVED looking for the eggs. He was just as excited each time he found a new egg. We had a great Easter celebration with Mark's family. We left around bedtime and loaded the car to head to my parent's house.

Show us your life-Moms who have lost children

This isn't how I thought my life would go...but "we plan and God laugh's" right?!?! I don't think any mom ever thinks they will be the one who would lose a child. Mark and I lost Ryder, Wyatt's identical twin brother, in May 2010. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about him. As time pass and it leaves others minds it's always so raw to us. Losing a child isn't something you "get over" as time passes it's something you learn how to live with the feelings you have. You can read their birth story here.

It's been almost 2 years and it hurts my heart so bad to think there are others who have these feelings too. The feelings sometimes make me physical ill. I encourage others to remain strong. Continue to trust the Lord. He has a plan. There are steps and stages of grief...don't beat yourself up as you go through each step. Find someone to talk to...even if you don't want to. Create a journal-even schedule a time each day to mourn. I know it sounds funny and weird but it works. Cry, scream, sit in silence, but create a time to be sad-try not to let it consume everything you do every day. It's hard but it will help.

Remember God is in control, don't try to do it on your own-TRUST and lean on the Lord. He will get you through.

Happy Birthday Ely!

Today Ely, our labradoodle, is 5 years old! Ely was a gift from Mark's aunt and uncle from the litter of puppies they had. Ely was born weighing only 13oz......
He was 13 lbs. the day we brought him home. He was 7 weeks old here...this is Mark the day we took him with us!
Fun times as a puppy in our first house. He was our baby...and a baby he was!
He hates when we dress him up!
He had a 1st b-day party! All his brother and sisters came. It was so fun!
He loves to swim, even though my parent's don't love the hair in their pool.
This is our last Christmas card where the pups have been included. I am pregnant here. ;) Lately Wyatt has become best buds with the dogs. He loves them and they love playing in the kitchen and even the backyard with Buddy!

Happy 5th Birthday Ely Callaway Schmitz!

Not what I thought

I have to make a conscious effort to sit. I mean like actually sit down and relax. I don't do it. I wish I did...I have to plan time in my head to play with Wyatt. I know it's bad-I hate it! I hate that I can't just push the small stuff aside and focus on more important things like playing with Wyatt and holding my baby girl. Sometimes I know I am just afraid to "stop" I am afraid of where my mind will wonder to. This time with Sloane brings back so many memories, memories that are still so so raw. I so badly want to cherish this time with her as I know I didn't with Wyatt because of grief and pain. I wish I would have just sat and stared...just held him with not a care about anything else and soaked up all the "baby" that I could. But I didn't, the time of baby Wyatt has come and gone. He is a toddler, a BUSY toddler. He is a big brother. The best big brother Sloane could ever ask for! It's crazy how much love you can see in his eyes for her and he isn't even 2 yet. (I know it sounds weird but it's so true!) I can "wish" all I want but I can't turn back time. I know the Devil will attack when I am weak. I am trying to remain strong. If I could give advice to any soon-to-be moms it would be to cherish the baby times. Don't worry about the dishes, laundry, or even keeping the house spotless TRY SO HARD to ENJOY your baby. Cherish that time and take pictures in your head that will never be erased. You will appreciate them so much.

Tough

This little family of 4 is keeping busy...as if I thought we would do anything less. It's been a crazy Spring so far! So much has been happening and continues to happen lately. Many times Mark and I have found ourselves looking at each other and just saying "really? why?" We keep doing the only thing we know to do-pray and stay in the Word. As we go about our daily life and changes begin to happen we know the Lord will and always provides. We will continue to trust and I will continue to tell myself "his blessing are new every morning." I encourage you if you are struggling to continue to hang in there! Tomorrow is a new day!

1 month

Oh baby girl! I can honestly say this is the fastest 4 weeks of my life. I thought time flew by when your brother was a baby...I was WRONG. It's crazy to me that you have been a part of our family for a month now. It's so fun being a family of 4. We are slowly learning what we have to do to get places on time and how to look presentable. I am almost in the habit of not leaving the house without a bow on your head. Ha! This is new for me but you look so cute with it I just can't imagine anyone seeing you without it. (Don't get me wrong you are pretty cute without it too!)
You have the best big brother in the entire world. I can't believe your Daddy and I ever even worried about him. Well, I can believe it but still...he loves you so much. There isn't a day that goes by where he doesn't ask to hold you. He gets the biggest smile every morning when he hears your first little scream fuss from your bedroom. He loves putting your pacifier back in your mouth and he enjoys feeding you a bottle.

Speaking of bottle...you aren't a very good eater yet. You love food you just struggle getting it in your tummy. We had to go to 3 weight checks the first few weeks of your life. ;( Nursing was pretty painful for a while but we hung in there (after many tears and sleepless nights) and are doing pretty well now. You prefer to breastfeed over the bottle which doesn't bother me a bit. I am trying to enjoy these special moments with you because I know how fast it goes.  You also HAVE to be burped and you do it so ladylike that's for sure! ;) There have been a few times you have eaten so fast you spit up the entire amount you just ate...fun times!
You are a paci baby FOR SURE. Your brother loves his too but didn't for the first few weeks of life. You came out sucking on your hands and were sucking on your fingers pretty much every picture we ever had of you in the womb. You love the paci they gave us in the hospital and won't take anything else. I guess this is a good thing because you and your brother won't get yours mixed up. GERMS...yuk! LOL!
We haven't really started much of a schedule yet, due to the lack of weight gain and the eating issues we are still just working on getting your belly full. You LOVE being held! You have spent lots of time in the Moby wrap and I love it. This is something I wish I would have done more with your brother so because of that you are getting double the dose. Ha! Also until today if I go somewhere with you and your brother alone I haven't really had a choice. We have a double stroller but your brother doesn't want to give up "his seat" so we are waiting on a special piece to be able to attach your seat on the stroller. ;) Oh well...I am sure it's just the beginning of many wonderful selfish things your brother will do.

Sloane-we love you so much. No one can get over how much you "look like your brother but just a little more petite and girly." I look forward to watching you grow.

At your 1 month check up your stats were:
7.12 lbs (12%)
21 inches long (47%)
-healthy growing girl

Our baby girl...you are a newborn and we are enjoying every minute of it. It's been fun so far! You were a great baby in the hospital. Nursing was a little tough while we were there due to some pain you caused me but we will get through. When you were born you weighed 6.13 lbs and were 20 inches long. The day we went home you weighed 6.4 lbs. Just PERFECT!

Happy Birthday Jane!!!

Over the weekend we celebrated a friend's b-day! It was laid back with family and an amazing rainbow cake! ;)

Jane loves My Little Ponies so Wyatt picked one out for her.

Wyatt loves hanging with the big kids...

But he is learning really fast how to ignore someone when they are taking pictures!

April Goals...

I follow a blog where monthly goals are posted. I can't remember who it is at this time...I know, I am losing my mind. (I blame it on lack of sleep from the NB, ha!) I was folding laundry this afternoon feeling REALLY overwhelmed with everything I need to do, well feel like I NEED to do and decided it would make me sleep better at night knowing I had a plan. So...we are only a few days into April so I think it would be safe to create a list of "April Goals."

1. Organize/Clean the top of OUR closet
2. COMPLETELY finish Wyatt's 1st year book ;/
3. Write and post Sloane's birth story
4. get caught up on uploading and organizing photos on the computer
5. organize, plan, purchase items, throw Sloane's baby dedication party

WOW, that's only 5 things but each one is a HUGE deal. Just looking at the list makes me a little stressed...ha ha ha!! I am such a list person so I am hoping this will help me relax a bit. It's almost been a month since our little girl was born and I am not exaggerating when I say this has BY FAR been the FASTEST month of my life!!!

Our Hospital Stay with Sloane

The hospital stay this time was so nice. Obviously our situation this time was a bit different but we tried to soak up every minute with our new little baby girl. I learned quickly with Wyatt that's it's perfectly fine to let the nurses take the baby at nighttime. That's what they are there for! They brought her to me each time it was time to nurse and other than that I slept through the night. Mark has boards the upcoming weekend so unfortunately he was back and forth to school A LOT! It was a bummer not having him there but I handled it. Ha! We had an Expedite trip scheduled for the following week so I kept busy with work. (LOL, we never stop) Mark and I decided before Sloane came we would have just immediate family at the hospital until after Sloane was here. When we were ready we gave the "green light!" During the day while Mark was gone we stayed busy with visitors.

Eesie and Poppie
 Uncle Kyle
 Aunt Erin

We are so blessed with such great family and friends! Sloane entered the world on a Tuesday night and we were sent home before lunch on Saturday morning. It was the perfect amount of time but we were for sure ready to begin our "new normal."
