Happy Birthday Paw Paw

It been a week or so but Paw Paw celebrated his b-day! We had dinner at Mark's parents and just hung out over there for the evening. It's always a crazy fun time....never a dull moment at the Schmitz household! ;) Wyatt painted a birdhouse (pictures in a previous post) and we also purchased him a neat birdhouse. He LOVES birds. Ha!!
One of Mark's dad's dental friend sent this cake to him...how cute...bummer I didn't get a picture BEFORE everyone started eating. Ha!

5 Question Friday

It's been a while since I have participated in "Five Question Friday" but today I am kinda feelin' it! ;) If you are interested in participating you can get the questions and link up over at My Little Life.
1. Can you drive a stick shift?
Ha....can I drive a stick shift.....YEESSSS!!!! I am probably one of the best stick drivers out there.(even Mark admits I am a GREAT stick shift driver) My first car was a stick, thanks to my dad. He insisted EVERYONE should know how to drive a stick shift. What happened if for some reason it was the only way to get somewhere. How dumb would you feel if you were stuck...?? (I don't mean that rude...it's meant to be inspiration to get out there and learn) I love driving a stick! I have even taught some of my friends...holla to ya Liz!!!!

2. What are two foods you just can't eat?
I am really not a picky eater. I don't think I even have foods I "just can't eat." Well, hmmm.....maybe lobster. I know I am weird right?!?! Just something about it tastes funny to me.

3. Do you buy Girl Scout Cookies? What is your favorite kind?
WOW!!! It that really even a question for all these wonderful fellow blog WOMEN??? YES YES YES we buy Girl Scout Cookies. Growing up my mom would buy 134,345,564 a few boxes and we would freeze them and when everyone else had eaten their last one....we still had boxes to go! Pretty much if someone asks we say "yes" when it's time to get them...we have quite a few due to me saying yes to every little girl out there. If you want to sell some cookies come knock on my door ;) Ha!!! I love THIN MINTS right out of the freezer. Ok, enough about Girl Scout cookies or I am going to have to eat a box  one before 10AM.

4. How do you pamper yourself?
I enjoy getting a pedicure every now and then. I usually go with my niece and sister in law. We have a really great place and it's not very expensive. Hmm....I would love to be sitting in that big comfy chair right now....;)

5. What is your nickname and how did you get it?
I don't really have a nickname everyone calls me Emily. I don't really think very many people even call me Em. I think my MIL calls me Em the most, well and I am Aunt Em. (But they think I am Aunt "M"....that's what it SOUNDS like right!?!?! Gotta love Kindergarten) LOL! I do have a few nicknames from Mark but he is the only one who calls me them. Wrinkle which has turned into Wrink and Bubbles which has turned into Bub. I don't know where either came from....weird I know!

Happy Friday everyone! Enjoy your weekend!!!

The Happiest Place On Earth

Each year Mark's parent's give each of their children a vacation condo for a week vacation! We had a Disney trip planned in 2010 but then I got pregnant so.....we have a Disney vacation planned for 2011!! We can't wait. With their timeshare we will be staying ON-SITE at a resort! We are so blessed!!! Mark hasn't been to Disney since he was about 5 and I haven't ever been. We are so excited! This summer we took a small 4 day vacation but other than than it's been almost since our honeymoon Mark has been on a vacation. (school has kept him in MO) We are leaving Easter Sunday and will be gone for 6 days. Usually we would stay for 7 or 8 but we have a wedding back in MO that we have to be at on the 30th...so....we are coming back a day early.

Today mark's 60 days until we leave...I know it's going to fly by! We have been saving for this trip for a while now as we know Disney can/is expensive. We decided if we are going to Disney we are going to go all out  to it right! LOL! We are purchasing a meal plan and couldn't be more excited about our character dining! We have reservations already for each day of the trip. My sister-in-law has been to Disney LOTS and she knows how to plan a fun Disney vacation. She has been my coach through this whole thing.

Yesterday I ordered our FREE personalized Disney maps. I can't wait to get them. I have also already purchased some REALLY cute vinyl iron ons (sp?) from Etsy (post to come later) for Wyatt to wear. He will be the cutest kid there BY FAR!!! ;) Duh!

We will be spending 4 days at the parks...more than enough with an 11 month old. ;) We have decided to purchase park hoppers" so we can travel between parks everyday all day. Since we are staying on site we are able to be inside the park during the "extended magic hours." These are hours before and after the park closes that only vacationers (is that a word) get to be inside. We are going during a pretty busy time of year (but didn't have a choice with Mark's schedule) so we are looking forward to these hours of the day.

There are many reasons why we are looking forward to April. This trip is going to be such a special time with our family, our 3-some. Within weeks of returning home we will celebrate Wyatt's first birthday on earth and Ryder's first b-day in Heaven. We don't know what emotions that time will hold. We know God will walk beside us and help us through a tough time but we will continue to "PRAISE HIM IN THIS STORM!"

Need I say more??

So...as I was catching up on my blog reading I came across this one....this post is just what the Dr. ordered for me right now. I am taking the next step in "moving on"/getting better and dealing with the loss of Ryder. God is so good....he always finds a way to speak to me. ;) Please read here.

President's Day

Yesterday went by so quickly. Mark was off school so we were able to get a few chores done around the house. We have been contemplating a project that involves our front door and decided to take the plunge! (I will show pictures soon) ;) so we had to make a Lowe's run. While we were there be also bought a new mailbox. It's the little things that make being a homeowner fun...right!?!? When we bought the house, 3 years ago, there was a dent in the mailbox. We have always just put one of those cute paper covers in it. By cute I mean a St. Louis Cardinals one because that's the only thing Mark would allow. Ha! The cover has since turned pink from weather so it was time to either buy a new cover or a new mailbox. This time we chose mailbox. It's nothing fancy...we already had the vinyl post so all we needed to replace was the box part. We purchased another white one and Mark had it replaced before he even came inside this afternoon. Fun huh?!?!

My parent's were up here for an appt. and my g-pa was with them. They stopped by for a bit and we had lunch together before they had to leave for their appt. We had a great visit even though it was short. I don't have any pictures from lunch. ;( Wyatt was good at the restaurant too! He played, smiled, and ate puffs the entire time. I hope he continues to be so well behaved in pubic, one can only hope right!?!?

I haven't posted about my few items I picked up at IKEA this month. I found some really fun things:

I mentioned the paper and table top holder in my last post. What a great deal!!!
I knew we would be painting on the paper so I couldn't go without these:

$3.99 for the 2-pack! I am pretty sure they are supposed to be bibs but I am using them as paint smocks (sp?) It's the teacher in me...can't paint without protection right!?!?!?
I also picked up a few items for my living room:

I have been accenting with yellow and a touch of green so these were perfect. Here is a picture of how I used them....
(phone picture=bad quality)

I will be adding this vase FOR SURE next month.
This is also on my shopping list:
We just got back last week and I am ready to go again! My parent's aren't able to help this trip because they will be running in a half marathon that weekend! GO GO GO!!!! So Mark's parent's are going to watch Wyatt. Mark has a friend in Chicago that we may stay with Friday night so we don't have to leave at 3:30AM on Saturday morning. We still have a few weeks to figure out our plans!

Finger paints

Since Wyatt loved finger painting Daddy's plate so much the other day while we were at IKEA I got him a surprise. (Starting good habits right?!?! brining him back something every time we leave....ha!) I found this:

Drawing paper and the tabletop paper holder. Both items only cost $12!!!! Bring on the outside summer fun! The other day I was at Michael's and picked up some finger paint. While we were there I picked up a birdhouse that Wyatt could finger paint for PawPaw for his b-day. PawPaw loves anything that has to do with birds and bird houses. ;)
Wyatt had a GREAT time. I let him paint on the living room floor (one benefit of hardwood floors everywhere) The house turned our so cute....and he had a great time too!!!

A year in pictures...

Last weekend (Febuary 12 & 13) I don't think I took one picture. So sad...I actually can't believe it. My mom watched Wyatt ALL day on Saturday since we traveled to IKEA so we didn't see him at all on Saturday. That may explain a little why I have no pictures...I didn't have anything to photograph. Ha! I do have quite a few from this week though....;)
I am losing my mind...here is an example. This is a Pampered Chef PINEAPPLE cutter...I used it on an apple. I didn't realize it wasn't the apple one until I tried to pull out the pieces. YIKES!

I told you her LOVES to paint!

I went to a bridal shower yesterday for a dear friend...Julie who is getting married in April.

Well,  there you have it....last week in pictures! ;)

Valentine's Day

Since this has been such a crazy week I didn't get to post about our Valentine's Day. Mark and I had deliveries to make so Mark's mom was able to watch Wyatt. Phew!!! (Luckily his parent's had already celebrated the Saturday before) So Mark and I spent our Valentine's evening making deliveries together. I know sweet right?!!? Ha!

Wyatt did manage to give him his sweet gift and card. Too cute for sure!!! Wyatt is LOVING finger paints right now! It's so cute...he hasn't even tried to put it in his mouth either. ;)

I wasn't able to take any pictures while we were painting because I took him by myself. That was a tricky task but it was done.  After he was finished painting he wanted to crawl around SO BAD! I still needed to write on the plate. Oh well...memories right!?!

Sadness

This week was a tough one. I don't really have a reason why it was tougher than the one before but it was tough. I think it had to do with how busy Mark and I have been. Stress, busyness(sp?), overly tired plus grief doesn't mix well. Today I traveled home and back for a bridal shower. I had an hour and half car ride both ways. Alone...just me....in the car....I don't do well alone these days. On my way home I was rockin' out to 99.1 Joy FM (love that station) and this song came on:

Please take a moment, 4:57 min, to be exact and listen to these words. I turned this up so loud and just sang the words...no matter what your storm is right now...we can still praise the Lord for everything. It's so hard as the "year mark" is fast approaching. Mark and I have had so many ups and downs this year...HUGE...emotions-many different events. All ones I never thought I would have to feel. God has been good, even through it all he has actually been amazing.

Even in your storm....we can and WILL PRAISE HIM!

The Zoo!!!

It has been so nice outside lately. We are loving the weather. Wyatt took 3 walks today....yes 3 walks. HE LOVES being outside. ;)

We were able to enjoy the zoo yesterday with his cousins...beautiful sunshine too!

Usually at the zoo I have pictures of the same animals over and over....well yesterday I got all people and no animals. There weren't very many outside but we didn't mind...we had a great time anyway!
