Snowdays with a Sick baby

Wyatt has been teething for about a week now. We thought his runny nose was because of the teeth, not so much the thought anymore. :( We have a Dr. appointment this afternoon (praying the ice/snow will hold off enough for me to get there and back). He has a terrible cough, runny nose, and is beginning to decline his bottle. BTW That's all he eats as an 8 month old but that's for a different post. I feel so bad for him. He tries to feel good, he will play for about 20 minutes then BAM he is screaming, coughing, can't get his breath, then is fussy and wants to be held then put in his crib. Poor baby! In one of his "playing" moods this morning I caught this picture with my phone:
I know, I know...what a big boy! Now if he would eat real food and crawl....hmmm!?!?!?

We are supposed to be getting a HUGE storm here starting this afternoon and into the night until Wednesday morning. Yikes!!??! I will be excited once Mark is home and his school is cancelled. :) You all know how I feel about SNOWDAYS!!!! LOVE THEM!!!! Last nigh I decided I would "run out" and grab a few last minute items before the storm. Well, so did the rest of St. Louis. NOT. A. JOKE.

There were NO shopping carts (and not because the were laying around the parking lot), there was NO milk, NO bread....the line was over 30 mins. long. I have NEVER seen anything like this. It kinda made me nervous. I have never been the adult in a situation like this (I mean the one responsible for the preparation for what may come). I hope I got it all...food-check, batteries-check, radio-check, candles and matches-check, hmm....and the list goes on and on! Here is a little preview of the grocery store last night....

Well, I hear a baby crying...gotta go!

Marriage Conference

Mark and I spent Friday evening and this morning at a Marriage Conference.  It was at a church about 45 minutes away from our house. It had late hours Friday night and then started back early Saturday morning so Mark and I decided to take advantage of this and spend the night near the church. My parent's came to stay with Wyatt...I really had to beg them! HA HA HA!

We had such a great time. There were so many great words spoken. Again, I am so glad Mark and I were able to spend time together.

Friday night before we went to the church we visited a friend of mine (and Mark's) for dinner. Kat and Brett got married in Nov. and we went to their place for dinner. It was a great time with friends, it was too fast but hopefully we will get together really soon!

My parent's are staying again tonight. We don't have plans but to just hang out! :) It's the best Saturday nights plans I can think of now....

How cute is this!?!?!? I couldn't post a picture until today because it was a SURPRISE and a few readers might see it too early. ;) I purchased this iron on from Etsy for Cruz because the are traveling soon! LOVE IT! I am so sad though because Ariel's didn't come in time. AHHH! Oh well....she will have a fun welcome home gift waiting. Ha!

Hmmm......

Yesterday Mark had a 2 hr. lunch so Wyatt and I went to eat with him. He took us to a place called "Cheeseburger Cheeseburger." (or something like that) It was SO SO good and so fun too! Wyatt has made a turnaround....for a while he was TERRIBLE at restaurants, but it seems to be getting a little better.
Hmmm..."what do I want to eat?"

This is just their shake list!!!
Look how cute :) Pretty sure I am going to get some canning glasses for summer use :)

After lunch we walked around the mall for a bit. Wyatt had grown out of his shoes so he needed the next size up...he's a growing boy! We love the Robeez so we decided to just get another pair....they are so cute!!! I couldn't find a picture online so I will have to take one and upload soon!

Hopefully tonight was my last night doing dishes in the bathroom in Wyatt's bathtub. :( My mom and dad are coming tomorrow and hopefully my dad is able to fix the sink. AHHH!!! I can't believe I didn't ever take a picture of the nightly mess...it's awful. I feel like the 1900's....ha ha ha!

Hopefully I get a change to blog tomorrow but I it's a busy day! My plans are to go to the gym in the morning, come home and get ready, Mark will get home around 11:30~ then I have nail date with Shelly and my niece Ariel. :) I can't wait....it feels like forever since I have hung out with them with all the germs...they leave for vacation Saturday morning so we had to have  a special nail day! :) Fun fun fun! I will get home probably just in time to see my parent's arriving. Mark and I are eating dinner with friends before the marriage conf. starts so we have to leave kinda early. I am really excited!!!

Wyatt has one tooth that broke the skin and another VERY close. He is a little cranky about it. :( I feel so bad for him...his nose is a little runny but that about it. Lately he has been trying to crawl SO BAD. He gets in this weird track start like position. Ha, and rocks back and forth. He has figured out the leg part but not the arms. He isn't the normal army crawler man....but tonight....Mark and I were at the table eating dinner. Wyatt was playing on the floor....we looked down to see him STANDING! What!?!?! STANDING...yup!!! He did this 3 separate times....I don't know what he was doing. He pulled himself up using some Rubbermaids we have holding his toys. He just looked at us with the biggest smile ever. I think he surprised himself. Who knows if it was just a fluke (sp?) or if he will continue this...we shall see!!?!?

Finally, to close....my picture from today.....Wyatt wanted this so bad for his Daddy. They watch this show together and he told me to get it for Mark. :) We had it all set up when Mark got home tonight....Wyatt LOVES it so much!

Potato's EVERYWHERE!!!

So....like I said in a previous post....last night we had potato soup. Since K & S had been sick I decided I would take them dinner. I was in the mood for some soup since it's been pretty chilly here lately. One crock pot would not have been enough for them + us so I needed to make 2...this lead to also making Mark's parents dinner too with the extra. (and because they are leaving for a cruise this weekend and it would be one less thing his mom had to worry about) In making 2 crock pots full of potato soup I needed 10 lbs of potatoes!!! YIKES I know...peeled and cut....WOW! So....

Monday night Mark (the sweet man he is) decided to help me in the kitchen. He began peeling while I was cutting the potatoes. He was peeling into the sink...where there is a garbage disposal. A little more than halfway through we ran into what we thought was a small HUGE problem. We clogged the disposal!!!! We began trying to "unclog" it many different ways...including using a plunger in my kitchen sink! GROSS-YUCK-I know....bleach was to follow that attempt! Nothing helped....so what was left to do??? Call my papa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This lead to us getting under the sick and start taking apart the pipes in attempt to dump all the potato skins out....not happening! When we stuck the cord (I don't know what the tool used to do this was/is called) it went right through the pipe....like in and out....busted a hole in it....it was rusted and corroded (sp?) WHAT A MESS WE HAD!!!!

We have spent the last 2 nights attempting to repair our sink. It's really hard to not be able to use your kitchen sink. If I forget and turn on the water or pour something down it....well....right to the cabinet bottom it goes. :( The dishwasher can't be run either....the sights last night....Wyatt's bathtub being used as a sink to wash our dishes. (Which might I mention washing dishes is for the birds) THANK THE LORD for dishwashers!!! My dad is coming this weekend and hopefully will be able to fix the problem completely! :/

This "trial" has done many things in our little family the past 2 night....one of them being making us thankful for running water, a dishwasher, a papa that is a great fixer, and a small test for Mark and I not to get upset with each other. I have to be "thankful in this small storm."

This weekend Mark and I are attending a marriage conf. I am SO SO excited. We are leaving Wyatt for the first time over night. I am nervous but know this is SO IMPORTANT. Quality time with my husband is so critical in a healthy, Godly marriage.

Happy Hump Day everyone.....

I am just going to list the main dish...

Tuesday: My mom's FAMOUS Potato Soup (2 crockpots full since I am making it for 2 other families + us)...starting this/peeling the potato's is a post within itself
Wednesday: Homeade Meatball sandwiches
Thursday: Chicken and Wild Rice soup
Friday: We are going to a friend's house for dinner :)

I can't wait to try everything! I also tried a new dessert recipe too! (thank goodness I am going to the gym) My mama is coming today to hang out with Wyatt and I so YAHOOO!!!!!

Blop Swap-Valentine's Day

I am so excited....I am going to particpate in a Valentine's Day blog swap! Check it out here:

Saturday Mark and I spent the day relaxing. :) I needed a few things from Bare Essentials so we went to the mall for a bit. It was so crowded, it was almost worse than the holiday season!! I think everyone was so tired of being stuck inside (due to weather) so they headed to the mall!

Yesterday we got up and went to a new church we wanted to try. We love where we go right now but it's a little far from our house and right now the times aren't really working with Wyatt. We are just really praying about where God wants us right now....

We were right in the middle of service and Mark's brother called. His entire family has been SO SICK for 3 days now...:( They leave for Disney on Saturday. (Please say a prayer for quick healing/recovery for them!) Kyle called and wanted Mark to take him to the Dr., we left church but then ended up not needing to take him. So...we are planning to try the church again next week. We came home and ate grilled cheese and tomato soup. SOOOO GOOODDD!!!! Now we are planning to hang out and watch some football.

DATE NIGHT!!!!

Yesterday was such a great Friday! Mark had a "late start" at school so he didn't have to get up and be gone by 6:00...it was more like 8:00. I was up when he left doing my morning routine. :) Once Wyatt woke up we ate breakfast got ready and headed to the gym. I worked out for a bit and then headed back home. Friday are REALLY short days for Mark this Tri so I had barely made it home, layed Wyatt down for a nap, and showered before he was back. So fun!!!
When Wyatt woke up we ran a few errands together. Mark is one of the husbands that likes to go places with me....everywhere. If he calls he always requests I wait for my errands until he gets home...it's fun....he just like hanging out with us. (he was this way before Wyatt too:)) While running errands we had to go to the gas station. We received $1 scratch offs for Christmas. When we win we keep exchanging them for more, we haven't payed any $$ yet. It's fun....yesterday I remember I still had 2 winners in my pocket. Mark brought back 2 $1 tickets...I won $28!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (We didn't go back and get 28 scratch offs....don't worry....ha...we only got 5)
We got home and tried to finish up a few projects around the house before getting ready for our date night! Logan has a "party" at the beginning of each Tri for their students. Last night was at the bowling lanes. We went to a friend's house before bowling (because it started at 9pm) for dinner and to hang out. We had a great time with our friends....there is always WAY to much time that passes between "hang-outs."

Mark playing Wii
All the guys playing....

"Boys"
"Gals"

I made this tasty artichoke dip that a friend of mine made on NYE. It was so good....the picture doesn't to do justice. Ha!

The bowling didn't start until 9pm....what!!?!? I know..that's almost my bedtime, it was fun and FREE too! (It better be after how much $$$ we pay for him to go to school...ha) We had a great time....

My "picture a day" picture....(the picture is a little creepy I know but this was too cute to pass up....look how he feel asleep....so precious!)

SNOWDAY

Oh how I love snowdays...I know I have said it before but there is something about that word.."snowday, snowday, snowday." Maybe it's the teacher in me, I just get a rush when I begin seeing all the schools scroll across the bottom of the screen. I always look for the school where I taught my very first year of teaching....I made some great friends and most still teach there. When I see the name oh how I do a little happy dance and sometimes still jump around like a crazy person smile for them. Now I have a niece who is in school and I do the same for her. Her school starts with an "A" though so thank the Lord for DVR. HA!
I don't really know why I enjoy snowdays so much. I think it's because of my mom. She always mae them so special. We could pretty much do whatever...ha! She let us go inside and outside as many times as we wanted. She never once complained about all the wet clothes and what we did to the floors in the house. Back then I didn't care or even know what a snowday does to a house. :) We always got to sleep in and have hot chocolate...it was so fun to play outside with my brother and sister. We always had a blast! I want to list a few of my favorite memories from snowdays, because this is my blog and I can, I know my sister and mom read and I think this would be fun....
1. The time we (my brother, sister, and I) had this brillant idea of hooking a sled to the 4-wheeler and pulling each other all around. One driving, one riding backwards to watch/spot, and the other riding on the sled. Some how that all makes sense...why was "someone" that was driving turned around to spot I will never know...thank goodness you didn't hit the tree TOO hard.
2. Remember the snowday where the St.Bernard dog showed up and we wanted to keep him SO bad?
3. The one little hill we had at the old house....oh how many times did we sled down!?!? probably at least a million!?!?! :)
4. snowball fights with the neighbor boys...alll fun and games until they started putting rocks in their snowballs.
5. Then there are snowdays are the Chapmans house....wow wow wow....how about the time you, Sister, literally BIT A HOLE THROUGH YOUR LIP! Oh Ms. Robyn...how calm you were.
The list could go on and on...memories....I love them! I can't wait to have snowdays with Wyatt and my other 3 children,if I get my way. I told him today I promise I will play in the snow with him when he gets older...maybe when he gets older he will also be able to respond to me when I talk too! Ha! I hope everyone had/has an amazing snowday!

Here we come Little Gym :)

It seems like it's been forever since we have been to Little Gym. We missed a few and they were closed for the holidays. I can't wait to get back into the routine! We even have a special new friend starting in February! YAHOOO!!! Wyatt and I have been trying to get back on schedule since Mark has gone back to school. It's so nice (and fun) having daddy at home ALL day EVERY day but nothing gets done. :)

I joined the gym so we have added that to our routine among many other tasks. Our next few months are starting to fill up on the calender. Mark and I had a good chat about this and REALLY are trying to make time for our family. (us 3) We have started traveling to IKEA once a month for EXPEDITEstl and we usually visit my family once a month too that leaves 2 weekends free....we really just have to make a plan to not plan. Ha! Make sense!?!?

Starting the beginning of Febuary I will be watching another baby in our home. She is a few months younger than Wyatt. This will be nice for Mark and I. It will keep me at home with Wyatt but to also make a little extra money on the side. It's part time so I will still have time to keep up with EXPEDITEstl and Radiant Wreaths too! God has been so faithful to us and always seems to provide. Mark is starting on the downhill stretch with school now...the end is in sight. In a little more than 1 1/2 he will graduate and start bringing home the big bucks a paycheck. HAHAHA!!!! Even when times are tough we know God has a plan, we can cling to the fact his school will pay off. He will have a job when he graduates and a job that will provide for his family and many years to come. It's comforting to know....

My bible study for today really hit home. I feel I need to share. *I am sharing, I by NO MEANS want anyone to think I am "preaching" to them. This is something I personally need to work on and since this is a journal of our lives I want to hold myself accountable. I want to be able to look back and see where I was-what I was feeling-how we were doing.* With that said....today I was to read John 14. It really talked about not letting our hearts be troubled. "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me." John 14:15 WOW WOW WOW! She goes on to say....Did you know that we are sinning when we let our..."hearts be troubled?"
I am going to begin making a conscious effort to stop worrying so much....I am not just saying that either, it's a sin...God called us to NOT worry. This is something I am dealing with personally and have many hurdles to jump it's not going to be overnight but this is something heavy on my heart.

A picture a day....!?!?!?

I have been watching other blogs participate in this fun "picture a day" thing. (I can't remember what it's called) I think I want to join. Ha! I know I take at least a picture a day....I mean I have the cutest 7 1/2 month old baby living at my house....why wouldn't I? :) I am going to TRY to go back and find a picture from each day of this new year....yikes I know....there have only been 18, I should be able to. We shall see! If not I am for sure going to try to start from today....

Sadly I don't think I had a picture from January 17th :(

(I had to add 2 from the 16th, it was a *party* day at home so...
#1 a picture I was cherish, my mom-Wyatt-G-pa (my mom's dad)
#2 my sister's buffet, she has such an awesome decoration touch, this picture shows it off)

(can't give details about this photo yet....)
