Potato's EVERYWHERE!!!

So....like I said in a previous post....last night we had potato soup. Since K & S had been sick I decided I would take them dinner. I was in the mood for some soup since it's been pretty chilly here lately. One crock pot would not have been enough for them + us so I needed to make 2...this lead to also making Mark's parents dinner too with the extra. (and because they are leaving for a cruise this weekend and it would be one less thing his mom had to worry about) In making 2 crock pots full of potato soup I needed 10 lbs of potatoes!!! YIKES I know...peeled and cut....WOW! So....

Monday night Mark (the sweet man he is) decided to help me in the kitchen. He began peeling while I was cutting the potatoes. He was peeling into the sink...where there is a garbage disposal. A little more than halfway through we ran into what we thought was a small HUGE problem. We clogged the disposal!!!! We began trying to "unclog" it many different ways...including using a plunger in my kitchen sink! GROSS-YUCK-I know....bleach was to follow that attempt! Nothing helped....so what was left to do??? Call my papa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This lead to us getting under the sick and start taking apart the pipes in attempt to dump all the potato skins out....not happening! When we stuck the cord (I don't know what the tool used to do this was/is called) it went right through the pipe....like in and out....busted a hole in it....it was rusted and corroded (sp?) WHAT A MESS WE HAD!!!!

We have spent the last 2 nights attempting to repair our sink. It's really hard to not be able to use your kitchen sink. If I forget and turn on the water or pour something down it....well....right to the cabinet bottom it goes. :( The dishwasher can't be run either....the sights last night....Wyatt's bathtub being used as a sink to wash our dishes. (Which might I mention washing dishes is for the birds) THANK THE LORD for dishwashers!!! My dad is coming this weekend and hopefully will be able to fix the problem completely! :/

This "trial" has done many things in our little family the past 2 night....one of them being making us thankful for running water, a dishwasher, a papa that is a great fixer, and a small test for Mark and I not to get upset with each other. I have to be "thankful in this small storm."

This weekend Mark and I are attending a marriage conf. I am SO SO excited. We are leaving Wyatt for the first time over night. I am nervous but know this is SO IMPORTANT. Quality time with my husband is so critical in a healthy, Godly marriage.

Happy Hump Day everyone.....

  2. I love your blog, I started following when you did the 30 Day Blog challenge. I'm sorry to hear about your garbage disposal. But, I love the pictures of your Valentine's decorations. I never decorate for Valentine's day and need some inspiration, can't wait for that post!

  3. My parents did the exact same thing to their disposal once, only mom was peeling potatoes for mashed potatoes. Good luck getting everything back in order! (PS- Love the cute Valentine's decor!)

  4. I know what a pain that is! I stopped up our sink last year and plunged it and unknown to me there was some pipe open in a closet and it drained out there...salsa I had made. Found it 2 days later. Ruined the hardwood floor, downstairs bedroom ceiling, and we had to dig a HUGE whole in the yard to unclog it all. I now put a bag in the sink and throw most things away. It's no fun, hang in there. I made the comment, "Never think you are too good to wash dishes in the bathtub..." lol!

  5. Oh no! I always used to put my potato peels down the garbage disposal, but my mom clogged my parents' sink a couple of months ago that way and they had to take everything apart. I've learned my lesson and the majority of the peels go in the trash now!
