Ready for 2011

Wow....what a year....what a crazy past 6 months! It's been such a emotional roller coaster. I know for most first times mothers the months after having your first child, or even a child, for that matter is full of so many ups and downs.
I know everyone has a story, everyone has hard times but enough it enough. Yesterday after getting a cavity filled leaving the dentist (my father in law) I called my mom while driving home. I could tell it in her voice...the dreaded "What's wrong?" Her cousin had committed suicide. Really? I know God doesn't give people more than he knows they can handle but WOW. Enough is enough! Without details...this isn't the first time we have experienced this as a family. So it brings back terrible memories. Terrible.
My mom is SO very close to her aunt, like a mother to her and this really!?!? Mark and I were already planning to spend Tuesday-Friday in Jackson so...we packed and traveled home. My mom has been spending time helping make arrangements and making phone calls. I just don't understand.
It's always so easy to say "life isn't fair." It's easy to have a pity party to say woe is me but really? Does that help? NOPE!
I write this post only to say....as we enter the last week before Christmas....as we find ourselves getting stressed-sweating the small stuff, getting upset over something so small.......I challenge you to take a step back-take a breath....does it really matter? How bad is is really? The devil will try so much to remove our focus from Christ. He will try...don't let him.

Take a breath and just remember the cliche saying...

"Remember the REASON FOR THE SEASON."

  3. I am so sorry Emily. This made me cry and you are so right. The small stuff doesn't matter. And the devil will use any little window to get in and try to make it your focus. Thanks for the reminder. Love you!

  4. I am so sorry! But thank you for sharing - you're so right and it's a good reminder to focus on the things that matter. Way beyond presents and cookies and things that need doing. There's a much bigger reason to celebrate and it's easy to get lost along the way. I'll be praying for your family.
