23 Weeks...

Please excuse the way I look, I usually don't put my face in there but...Mark took this picture to be able to get the "full effect."

23 Weeks
How far along? 23 weeks
How big are the babies? Still Papayas!
Best moment this week: I felt BOTH babies kicking at the same time and WE saw movement from the outside!!!!!!
Symptoms: Slight swelling is starting in my feet if I stay on them to long, trouble bending over
Movement:A lot, they do not sleep at the same time :(
Food cravings: Milk
Genders: Identical Boys
Milestones: I over half-way and close to the 3rd tri-mester

Development: Babies' little faces are fully formed...minus the baby fat, of course. The next task at hand for baby: sprouting two teeny-tiny nipples!

Headlines from the week: Chile Earthquake and Winter Olympics 2010 (Vancouver, Canada)

My mother-in-law say this idea somewhere and decided to get these made for us. Aren't they just so cute?!?! They are going in the hospital bag for them to wear in place of the hospital hats. :) It just makes me smile thinking about them. I have been feeling them move A LOT the past week and I just love it. I can't believe I am saying this already but...I am pretty sure between the 2 other them...someone is always awake. (I don't think this is a good sign) I am feeling movement so much. It's so fun! I am now over the "it's weird when people touch my belly." I had my first stranger tough. It actually wasn't even a touch it was WAY more. It was a rub/pat circle motion feel...from a stranger...LOL. I have started feeling REALLY full at night and heavy but I have REALLY been trying not to be a complainer. This week I was talking to a family friend who has a little girl (17 months) and she has been trying to get pregnant again. I think to myself "we weren't even trying and I am 24 and pregnant with identical twins." It's unreal to me...and Mark. This just happened to us....God has a HUGE plan for us. Anyway, I was talking to her and I probably was doing some usual pregnant lady complains and she looked me in the eyes and said "You have to own this pregnancy and everything it entails. Love your belly, love your bellybutton, love the way you feel, love when you feel them kick, it may never happen again, enjoy it, people would kill to be in your shoes." She by NO MEANS was having a pitty party but she sure snapped me into reality, she is right. So, since then I have really been making an extra effort to enjoy every kick, every middle of the night journey to the bathroom, etc. Mark and I are over halfway there to becoming a family of 4, a couple with twins, having identical boys...we are so blessed and I pray everyday for women who want a child. Though sometimes it's so hard to see God's plan, the best part about being a believer is even when we can't see...WE KNOW...he is there.

Five Question Friday & Show Us Your Life

My Little Life

1. Do you sing karaoke? If so, what is your go to song?

No, I don't sing karaoke. To be honest I am a terrible singer...but I love to do it! Right now I really love "Party in the USA," but if my sister reads this I couldn't go without saying what I would give to be able to sing the national anthem. :) (Love ya sista!)

2. What is your favorite coffee drink?

Starbucks Skinny Vanilla Latte, no whip

3. If you could choose your own name, what would it be?

I don't think I would change my name but I have always joked about spelling it different. LOL It doesn't make sense but I think it would neat to spell it "M-A Lee" (dumb, I know) or I like the way "Emilie" looks too!

4. Were you ever bullied?

5. How often do you eat fast food?

I can't disclose that information right now. :)

Show Us Your Life with Kelly's Korner
When Kelly decided to do "collections" I immediately knew what I would do. As I child I collected key chains.'s a good thing I am an organized person and know exactly where to find all the "Emily's Childhood Boxes." :) I hope you enjoy this post, I had fun looking back into my collection and Mark really thought I was a nerd.
Above is the pile of all the key chains, there are over 100. More importantly...look at the container I kept them in. :)

Here are a few from FL vacations. Amazing how they all looks alike....

Above are just a few special/favorite ones, the tape I just thought was funny (kinda aged me), the Coleman lantern really worked, I thought it was fun how I had a Southeast key chain and that ended up being the college I attended, the white key chain is from my grandpa who just passed away his business logo.

My grandpa used to travel A LOT, at one point he was trying to make it to all 50 states, I don't know if he has finished yet. He used to get me a key chain from each state. Most of the time he got really nice key chains, not the cheap ones at the truck stops. (not that there is anything wrong with those, I collected them too)

These were a few from different countries...

I don't want to sound hoosier that I have so many collections but when I was taking pictures of the key chains I did remember I have kind of started a collection as an adult, but not really. LOL Makes no sense...I know. Hawaii/ocean life is a really big deal in my husbands family. When I went to Hawaii for the first time I fell in love with sea turtles. His parents have gone so often we were able to go to local hangouts where there were not a million tourists. One of those places they have nicknamed "turtle bay." Every day at 4pm the sea turtles get REALLY close to shore. As long as you have snorkel gear you can be FACE TO FACE with endangered sea turtles in the ocean! It's amazing, words can not even begin to describe. You can't touch them because they are endangered species though. It was here I realized my love for sea turtles. The Hawaiians have something they call their "ohana." It means family in Hawaiian, each family has a symbol or animal or something they relate their family to. Mark and I have adopted the sea turtle as our ohana. (Just to clear things up, we don't worship it or anything like that...don't get the wrong idea) Ok, so with that said back to my collection...I have a few sea turtle decor items around our house. I also have a sea turtle tattoo but due to the 5 month pregnant with twins belly I won't be posting a picture of that sea turtle. (though, if you really want to know it is NOT stretched at all...I think it may actually be a in a safe spot)

Thursday, February 25, 2010

I saw this cute Thursday idea on another blog and joined the fun! Mark and I have so much to be thankful list could go on forever but I tried to keep it short and sweet.

1. I am so thankful God has provided for us, more than we EVER could have imagined at a rough spot in our lives.
2. I am so thankful I didn't have any problems getting pregnant. (Once again, God knew my OCD planning and his plan weren't working together, he took matters into his own hands and...ta-da...unexpected twins it is...and WE LOVE IT!)
3. I am so thankful for an amazing husband. Cliche, I know but I didn't think it could be any better since the day we said "I do," boy was I wrong...he has been THE BEST since the second the pregnancy test was +positive+. I can't wait to see him as a dad! :)
4. I am also thankful for my family. They are so supportive and ALWAYS there for me. I LOVE that I talk to my mom on the phone EVERYDAY! I look forward to hearing her voice.
5. I am thankful for my relationship with Jesus Christ. I find it hard to trust him some days but he always sends me a reminder he is there!

That sums up my "Thankful Thursday." I have many more but they will wait until next Thursday. My OCD makes me stop at 5 or go to 10 so...stopping at 5 it is! So until the next "Thankful Thursday..." :)

Sunday-Baptism, Rain, Rain, and more Rain

Yesterday Mark and I attended his cousins church. He son was being baptised and we know what a special time this is and wanted to attend. It is always so neat to visit other church's and see how many different ways people worship! My camera batteries were dying and their baptistery is on "ground level" (which was new to me), so you can't see him very well in some of the pictures because they let his friends watch! :) God is Good!!!!
He gave his testimony before he was baptised....

His dad speaking....

3 people were baptised that day...

After the service we went to their house for lunch. It was a great time. I was 22 weeks yesterday!! AHHHH!!!! I will post a "baby update" soon. It rained a lot yesterday. :( I am so ready for summer, I am tired of precipitation. (of ANY FORM) We have friends staying with us for a few days from out of town. GREAT TIMES!!! Happy Monday everyone!

Logan College of Chiropractic "Snowflake Masquerade

What a night! I was out until 11's a record since the day I found out I was pregnant! (that's an exaggeration but it was late for me) It was worth it, we had a great time with friends! It was fun getting dressed up, even though it was hard for a pregnant woman! Dinner and dancing...LOL.....I didn't to the dancing part but dinner was great! :) Once we got home I barely remember laying my head on the pillow before I was asleep. I was in some pain last night and this morning though, I am pretty sure it's the shoes I was wearing last night. Oh well, I survived! Today was a relaxing day for us too. My mom came up for a bit, we hung out for a bit and got pedicures. :) Mark helped his brother and sister-in-law with moving and then we hung out the rest of the afternoon with them. The weather was B-E-A-utiful! It was in the 60's!!!!!! I wish it would stay. We walked the dogs and the were able to play outside a lot today. Tomorrow has turned into a busy Sunday for us. We have a baptism to go to, which means we won't be going to our church. Then we are eating lunch with family and probably going to Mark's brother's house for some time with friends. Busy day....but fun day!

Happy Birthday!

Today is my father-in-law's b-day! Mark and I went over to their house for dinner but I only got a few snapshots and I am to lazy to post them tonight. :( Sorry! I was really busy today but did get a lot of things crossed off my list. (if it wasn't on there...I added it just so I could cross it off...ha) I am so excited for this weekend. My mom is coming to visit! When I talked to her today she suggested a pedicure...oh ya! Pregnant woman coming through....I can't wait until Saturday! Tomorrow is a big day...we have a formal dinner to attend at Mark's school. There are 4 other couples going, I usually refer to them as our "Logan Friends" on this blog, we are so excited. It's been an interesting few days trying to find something cute to wear with a 30 week pregnant belly, that doesn't make me look like a school teacher or a grandma. (no offense to anyone) I will take lots of pictures....tomorrow is FINALLY FRIDAY. It's been another pretty crazy week for Mark so I haven't seen him much and we haven't been able to even watch 1 DVR'ed TV show from this week. :( I can't wait for tomorrow afternoon when he is off for the weekend. Like I said earlier, my mom is coming Sat. morning and Mark's cousin's son is getting baptized Sunday so we will be attending their church for Sunday morning service.'s not to crazy of a weekend. It's kind of feeling like the "calm before the storm." We have this weekend and next then the weekends get crazy! We have baby showers, trips to J-town, Birthday parties, and much more. Bring on the Spring!!!

Doing the "tourist thing" in our own city

A few of Mark's friends from school had some out of town visitors this weekend. On Friday afternoon they decided they wanted to take the Anheuser-Busch Tour. Mark and I had done this before but it's always fun to take out of town guests to something they have never done before. This is a free tour of the brewery. It is really actually very fun and interesting! We had a great time with friends. After the tour we all ate dinner at a local restaurant in the city. Friday night fun...

Show Us Your Life- Valentines Day

Looking back I don't really have a Valentines Day that sticks out in my mind. The past 5 Valentine Day's I have spent with my husband, and they have been the most wonderful 5 I can recall. We don't really do much to celebrate but spend time together. This year I have steaks to make for dinner and I bought stuff for us to have chocolate fondue. I have been to the Melting Pot and my mom and aunt always make great fondue dinners but this will be my first attempt! We shall see...!!! This Valentines Day is a special one because it will be the last V-day without children. Next V-day Mark and I will have 7 month old (well, about 7 months) twin boys at home with us. I can't even begin to think about that...I get WAY to excited! It's been a really crazy week around our house. Mark has had LOTS of school work and tests so I haven't really seen much of him. When he isn't at school he is in is office studying. So, this weekend we plan to do a lot of NOTHING! It's a 3-day weekend too! Then Monday is ANOTHER DR. APPT!!!! YAHOOO!!! Can't wait....

Rockin' Wednesday

It's here!!! My parent's bought Mark and I a glider. I love it, I could sit in it ALL day and just glide. LOL Mark spend some time putting it together. He is so patient. The picture of me in it makes my belly look small, I think it's also the shirt. (the picture was just taken late last week) Hopefully tomorrow I will post "21 weeks." Happy Wednesday everyone!

Busy, Busy, Busy...with lots of nothing...

I feel like I haven't stopped these past few days. Looking back I don't really know what I have done though. Last weekend I went to a baby shower of a friend. She is having a girl ANY moment! Sunday was the big Superbowl Game. Mark and I relaxed at his brother and sister-in-laws house. It was just what we needed...LOW KEY! Mark has a crazy school week ahead of him. One of my best friends grandfather passed away over the weekend so I went home for a few days and saw her. It was really nice spending time with my family at home. My mom and I were able to spend time together and then yesterday evening I got to sit in front of the T.V. with my family, just like old times. We got some snow last J-town and in St.Louis...just enough to be beautiful! I got back home today and am tired! I will post my 20 week post soon...I feel like I am growing every day BIGGER AND BIGGER!!!

Friday, February 5, 2010

Today I watched one of my friend's 11 month old baby, Caden. He is a GREAT baby. I hope at least one maybe both of ours are this good. He got here around 11:45...we played and played...12:15 he ate LOTS...then about 1:15 he was getting sleepy...I laid him down and it's 2:45 and he is still sleeping....his mom is coming about 3:15....WOW!! What a great time. I was able to snap a few quick photos before he ate and fell asleep.

"Simple Pleasures"

I read Kelly's Korner blog. She has many posts with open ended titles or even where she gives topics and asks others to follow her...she recently blogged with a title "Simple Pleasures." I have been thinking about this for a few days now and I have decided to create a post of my "Simple Pleasures." (these are in no certain order)

1. Sunshine peeking through the clouds after a long rain

2. Our home alarm system sounding "front door" meaning my HUSBAND IS HOME!

3. feeling our twin boys kick inside my belly

4. Sonic Raspberry Sweet Tea

5. watching our pups tail wag because they are happy to see me

6. the smell of bleach (not in a weird a "I love things being CLEAN" way)

7. walking through the St. Louis Zoo with my husband

8. watching a child's face after they have the ah-ah moment when trying to learn how to do something

9. watching/listening to a young child read, one who is just learning

10. hearing my phone ringing and knowing by the ring tone...IT'S MOM OR DAD!

11. traditions I had as a child with my siblings (just one: all sleeping in the same room on Christmas Eve)

12. a good movie

13. Green tea frap. from Starbucks

14. praying, asking God for something so small, then getting an answer SO BIG! (he never fails us)

Just a few I have come up with the last few days....tomorrow is Friday! Tonight I have made Chili for the first's been cooking since this morning...hope it's good!

How many weeks? 19 weeks

How big are the babies? Mangos!

Big Moments for the Week: Baby Shower Dates/registering

Symptoms:I am getting bigger....bellybutton is OUT!

Movement: Lots of flutters and pressure, a few kicks!

Food Cravings: SODA (Dr.Pepper or Diet Coke)

Development: Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil, and dead skin cells now coats babies' skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.

Headlines from the week: Superbowl coming up...this Sunday, Haiti Earthquake Relief

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

A few posts ago I talked about our "Logan friends." One of the girls painted us a canvas to put in the babies room. I told her she needed to start a business. She is so thoughtful and it matches perfectly! I already have shelves up in the room has a place too! Take a look...

"Breakin' in the Basement"

Last night, Sunday evening, we had some of our friends over. It is always so fun to hang out together. The guys are Mark's friends from Logan (Chiropractic School) and it worked out perfectly that all of the women get along so well. It's been so fun getting to know them all over the past months. We still have 2 1/2 years to go you'll. :) They all live really close to school so Mark and I don't get together as much as we would like but when we do it's always a BLAST! Last night I made homemade pizzas and everyone else brought the extras...great dinner it was! We were introduced to a new board game over Christmas break so we decided to play it with everyone last night. "Wits and Wagers," without to much are read that have to do with statistics (for example: the largest whale ever recorded in ft was...???). Every makes there own guess and then we all bet/wager on which person has the closest answer. It is really a great conversation game! It was a great way to welcome in the new week.
