Saturday Fun!

My parents came up for a visit this weekend. It was quick but really nice having them around. Friday evening Mark, his dad, and my dad, did some work in the basement...still a few final touch to go. (picture updates coming soon) While they worked my mom, Mark's mom, and I went to a "vendor party." At the party I sold Pampered Chef, my sister-in-law had her Liv Luxe Jewelry (to see her website click the bottom on the right side of my blog) and her cousin sold Beauty Control. It was a really nice evening of women fellowship. We didn't "present" our products we simply set up tables and provided appetizers. :) Saturday we went to the Auto Show. I have never been and since it's something that comes to St.Louis every year I thought maybe I should give it a try. Mark had gone as a child and my parents have gone a few times too! It was really fun! There were so many cars...Mark loved the Jeeps...and I am sitting in a Ford Flex, fun fun fun! Thank goodness we already have Jeep to take our boys in safely. I couldn't imagine if we were shopping for a car right now along with "shopping for baby stuff." YIKES! Enjoy the pictures below....

We ended the day with dinner at "the old spaghetti factory" (dad's pick). If you have never been to this serves ENTIRE meals with every entree. You can not leave here hungry. Everyone gets drink, salad, bread, entree, and dessert!Cool huh?!?! I LOVE PASTA!!!! :) IT was such a relaxing day filled with fun!

Before and After...well ALMOST after...

As soon as we found out I was pregnant the race was on. No, only kidding...kind of. One of the bedrooms upstairs in our house was being used for an office. We knew when we needed a nursery that would be the room we would use. Well, it happened sooner than WE planned. (God had other plans) We had a finished basement but it was finished 50 years ago when the house was built. Ha! It needed some major work. We are so blessed to have parents with skills to help this process along. :) The only before pictures I could find were when the previous owner was packing his things to move out, but they give you an idea. In less than 3 weeks we have gone from an...

old tile/floor, no paint, concrete walls, paneling, ugly ceiling, cold, and dark...

To a new carpet and tile, painted ceiling, painted walls, more/new lights, A NEW WALL (creating an office), complete with furniture, and a PLAY area...

Above is the bar area that is still collecting odds and ends that need to be put away or hung on the walls. (hints the HUGE tuna caught by Mark) This is looking inside the office, directly at Mr. Bones...(thanks to my soon to be Chiropractic Doctor husband) My dad is visiting this weekend and hanging the door, he built the wall...with Mark's help! :)

This is inside the office...what would we use this space for if we didn't have 2 HUGE dogs...?!?!!? I do not know.

View from coming down the stairs...can you see some play area!?!? :)

The living/TV area...the cool entertainment center is from Ikea (delivered by our amazing friends and their company) Thanks Expedite STL!!!!
Well...that's about it! There are a few things left but I would sy pretty good for a 3 week project. :) Happy Friday everyone! Enjoy your weekend.

"Was that just a kick?"

It's real....LOL...they are kicking! The movement is happening mostly in the evenings. The other night they were moving all around. My stomach was sideways! Mark was trying to feel and then all of a sudden I felt it. I though he had tapped his finger...nope, someone kicked! It was so amazing! It was even more amazing that Mark had his hand on my belly and was feeling at the EXACT same time. What a joy! The feeling can't be explained, if you are a mother you can understand.

Yesterday was the big day! We had an ultrasound that marked the almost "halfway" there! It was so fun. I wish I could walk around all day with a monitor so I could watch them. :) Some would say don't you think that would be uncomfortable...well I am already so what would I have to lose. LOL Both babies checked out great. They are less than an oz. different in weight wish is great at this point. The babies share a placenta so they really monitor the difference in size/weight to make sure they are growing and gaining at the same rate. Each baby had 2 legs, 2 arms, a great looking 4-chamber heart, nose, brain, and kidneys. They checked for lots of other stuff too but that's some of the stuff I remember. Baby A has moved positions, he is no longer breech, which is WONDERFUL but he is now REALLY low, which has been pretty uncomfortable for me, but I am NOT complaining. A few weeks ago I just kept saying "I just want to feel them," well I have and I love it! The ultrasound did find a small choroid plexus cyst in both babies but the Dr. said we have NOTHING to be worried about and they see this all the time. It should go away by the next ultrasound! (Prayer Request Please) My belly is measuring the size of a 27 week pregnancy...WOW...I know! They love doing ultrasounds of twins, I think we took home like 20 pictures. Most of the pictures were for the Dr. and not that fun to upload so I picked 2 good ones. Only 1 baby was laying were we could get a profile shot so I had to upload that one. We have plenty showing us they are boys, the tech said "wow, these are some proud boys," in return making their dad REALLY proud. I decided for their own privacy I will not be posting those pictures. :) (What a good mom, right?!?!) We go back in 3 weeks for a check-up and if everything is ok we won't get an ultrasound. I am kinda bummed about that but I guess I should be thankful if at 21 weeks pregnant with twins my Dr. is still saying everything is GREAT I should be happy. Then we go back 3 weeks after that for another BIG ultrasound again! I can't believe in 6 weeks I will be almost 25 weeks.

It's Official...We have names for our boys!

"What's in a name?" Mark and I have had a boy name picked out for as long as I can remember. We never thought we would need 2 at one time! :) God had other plans...right!?!?! (At least we had one down and only one to pick if they would have been girls...not that would have been a problem!) On Mark's side of the family it has become a tradition to use the first name of the father as the middle name of the child. So...we have chosen Wyatt Mark for the first boy born. The second baby will be Ryder Curtis (Curtis is my maiden name). Perfect huh...I know, I am a little partial. :) It sounds like it was an easy decision...but as anyone who has had to pick a name for a child's a lot easier said than done. But, to be halfway there and have agreed on names for our twin boys...I'd say that's pretty good. :)

18 weeks....

How far along? 18 weeks (halfway for twins!)

How big are the babies? Sweet potatoes

Best moment this week? Feeling movement :)

Symptoms? I have started feeling bloated again. My stomach feels really full 99.9% of the time.

Movement? This week has been a huge jump in the amount of movement I felt. I still haven't felt "kicking" but I can feel pressure and lots of movement...others can feel the "bumps" when they move too!

Food Cravings? Pasta House salad

Genders? Identical Boys

Milestones...This week we go to the Dr. for our BIG ultrasound.

Developments: Babies' have become amazingly mobile (compared to you, at least), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking, and swallowing. And the babies are finally big enough that you'll soon be able to feel her movements.

Headlines: Scott Brown of the Republican Party is elected to office, Natural disaster/Earthquake in Haiti-over 200,000 dead

As you'll know I am a follower of the Multiples and More Blog. Today there was a mother of twins that posted was to funny not to pass on. I laughed out loud...then was quickly reminded that will be Mark and I in less than 6 months...AHHH!!!! Happy Reading...

"How you know your ready for a baby ( or better yet TWNS)
Mess Test:
Smear peanut butter on the sofa and curtains. Now rub your hands in the wet flower bed and rub on the walls. Cover the stains with crayons. Place a fish stick behind the couch and leave it there all summer.

Toy Test:
Obtain a 55-gallon box of Legos. (If Legos are not available, you may substitute roofing tacks or broken bottles.) Have a friend spread them all over the house. Put on a blindfold. Try to walk to the bathroom or kitchen. Do not scream (this could wake a child at night).

Grocery Store Test:
Borrow one or two small animals (goats are best) and take them with you as you shop at the grocery store. Always keep them in sight and pay for anything they eat or damage.

Dressing Test:
Obtain one large, unhappy, live octopus. Stuff into a small net bag, making sure that all arms stay inside.

Feeding Test:
Obtain a large plastic milk jug. Fill halfway with water. Suspend from the ceiling with a stout cord. Start the jug swinging. Try to insert spoonfuls of soggy cereal (such as fruit loops or cheerios) into the mouth of the jug while pretending to be an airplane. Now dump the contents of the jug on the floor.

Sleep Test:
Prepare by obtaining a small cloth bag and fill it with 8-12 pounds of sand. Soak it thoroughly in water. At 8:00 PM begin to waltz and hum with the bag until 9:00 PM. Lay down your bag and set your alarm for 10:00 PM. Get up, pick up your bag, and sing every song you have ever heard. Make up about a dozen more and sing these too until 4:00 AM. Set alarm for 5:00 AM. Get up ad make breakfast. Keep this up for 5 years. Look cheerful.

Physical Test (Women):
Obtain a large bean-bag chair, and attach it to the front of your clothes. Leave it there for 9 months. Now remove 10% of the beans.

Physical Test (Men):
Go to the nearest drug store. Set your wallet on the counter. Ask the clerk to help himself. Now proceed to the nearest food store. Go to the head office and arrange for your paycheck to be directly deposited to the store. Purchase a newspaper. Go home and read it quietly for the last time.

Final Assignment:
Find a couple who already have a small child. Lecture them on how they can improve their discipline, patience, tolerance, toilet training, and the child's table manners. Suggest many ways they can improve. Emphasize to them that they should never allow their children to runriot. Enjoy this experience. It will be the last time you will have all the answers.

Open for Business...

Happy Tuesday everyone! 1 week from today we will be excited about our "big "half-way there" ultrasound! We are so excited! The Dr. said "now, you know this is going to be a length appt. They will have to look each baby over for a while...and since there is 2 it takes double the amount of time." LOL I have a feeling "double the amount of time" is going to be my new saying. Ha! Anyway, guess sister-in-law just started a business, Liv Luxe!! It is so cute...please visit this site...especially if your a mom, grandma, or even a proud wife! Enjoy!

"I'm going to miss this..."

After reading a friend's blog this afternoon I couldn't help but write this post. She reference this blog. WOW, I am reading her entry about just enjoying every moment with your children, crying my eyes out...while my 5th grade class has D.A.R.E. going on. :) (How's that for a pregnant woman!?!) It seems the past few months of my life has been a whirlwind. Mark and I found out we were pregnant (surprise!), we then found out we were having twins, then identical twins, and most recently identical twin boys! I know I have heard parents say "what did we talk about/do before we had children?" I honestly try to think about to Mark and I before we found out...don't get me wrong I loved how we were then and I am still LOVING the way we are now but these boys have already consumed us. I love them so much now and I haven't even held them or seen them in "real-life." I can't imagine what it will be like when they are really here...physically! This post made me stop and think about the past few weeks...I have found myself complaining about some small things that are beginning to happen to me. (weight gain, clothes not fitting, feeling full, headaches...blah, blah, blah) I will soon be 17 weeks and know I have not even began "the worst" part. But this post made me there going to be a worst part? There are many pregnancy stories out there, tons of multiple pregnancy stories too, am I going to be one of them? The post talked about enjoying EVERY second with your child. For me at this point God spoke and said enjoy this pregnancy. Not everyone has twins...God has chosen Mark and I for this special journey. He has a reason for this. He would NOT give us something we couldn't handle. He would not create this life inside me (2 of them) if this was something I couldn't handle emotionally, physically, mentally, and even spiritually.
"Thank you Lord for speaking to me today. Thank you for showing me/reminding me you are in complete control. Please remind me to "find the joy" (thanks mom!) in every day I am able to carry these two precious children of God. Thank you!"

Another productive weekend...

Wow, was our weekend a busy one! We have done so much since Friday afternoon. I came home Friday from teaching and Mark's Uncle and Aunt were at the house. His Uncle is an electrician and he was helping us out in our basement. (SIDENOTE: We have been working REALLY hard on the basement. My dad has built a wall/office. Mark and his mom painted all week last week. I will post pictures soon! It is going to be amazing!) After they left Mark and I went to a basketball game. The school where I teach has a boys basketball team and Friday night they had their first game. After the game we went to Babies R Us! Yes, I said it! We started a registry. I know it seems kind of early and I should not have to explain myself but I am going to anyway. Since we are having twins and I live 2 hours from home I will be having a baby shower in March. The Dr. said I have about 8-10 more weeks of "comfortability." We have so much going on the rest of January so we decided to just go ahead and check it off our list. We started it Friday night but didn't get finished. Saturday we ran some errands. Lowes and Home Depot to get some things for our basement! :) We had to make a stop at TJ Maxx and Target (is that ever NOT on my list of errands!?!?) for birthday presents. We celebrate my sister and grandma, Mark's brother, mom, and sister-in-law's birthdays all in the next week! WOW...and right after Christmas! We recieved a few gift cards for Christmas so we decided to eat dinner at Olive Garden and finish our registry. When we finally made it home we plopped on the couch and began playing the Wii!! Phew, what a day! That was a lot for a preganant woman, much less one carrying TWINS! ;) This morning we were able to go to church, it was so nice to be back. We have missed a few weeks because of the holidays and it's always so nice to be "home again." It's so comforting being welcomed by so many people that have truly been praying about you. After church Mark's uncle came back over and finished putting all the lights in our basement! While they worked I cleaned our living room, like REALLY cleaned...not picked up...and mopped all the floors upstairs. I made a quick trip to Target to pick up some last minute items for the week and got home just in time to leave again. We have dear friends, Joe and Leigh, moving at the end of this month and we were meeting them for dinner. We are going to miss them...bad. Joe is a friend of Mark's from elementary school and Leigh and I have become great friends. They have been such a blessing in our lives, we really are going to miss them.
Well, what a weekend...right? Now, I am finally sitting on the couch winding down and preparing for the week ahead!

(Reposted on Jan. 8th, 2010)

As soon as I found out Mark and I were having twins I started searching the web. I didn't really know what I was searching for....just information about TWINS! It has been so fun...I joined a blog called 'Multiples and More." It has been so interesting reading about all the families that have multiples! Recently they challenged reader to post their New Year's resolutions. This year is going to be unlike ANY year I have ever had. Our family is going to be changing...for the better...but from 2 to 4! I wanted to set a realistic goal but still something challenging. After much thought...I decided on my resolution.
New Year's resolution for 2010: Begin/complete all photo scrapbooks
~I have decided this includes: 1 family album hand scrapbooked, a photo book (Kodak Gallery) recapping the year (universal, so I can use it as gifts and save a copy for each child), begin their "B-day Albums" (a idea I got from my sister-in-law), begin each twin's "Baby Book" (this will be a hand scrapbook of their first year personalized to each child
WOW, that sounds like a lot after typing it out. In my head it did not sound like that much. :) I can do it! I love to scrapbook and have completed 1 a year since Mark and I met. that is 5 completed scrapbooks since the first date we had. They are so fun to look back on! Good luck with your resolutions, if you'll have any ideas or fun places to get twin scrapbook stuff please let me know. Just become a follower and leave me a comment! Happy New Year!!!

The Big News...We are having BOYS!

Hello blog world...the news is out...we are have identical twin boys! I was supposed to go to the Dr. this afternoon but I had a SNOWDAY! YAHOOO...I love being a teacher! I called the office and let them know I would come in early if they could see me...they said "come on in!" We were so excited. On our way I got a little nervous because I REALLY wanted to find out the sex today. I will be 16 weeks on Sunday so I didn't know if the Dr. would even look. HE DID! (I REALLY had to talk him into it but it was obvious) THEY ARE BOYS!! Because we are having twins we get ultrasounds every three it...and so I didn't put all the pictures in this post but if you can read can probably tell from the ones I posted. The first one tells us they are boys...the second and third just show the babies! They are getting so big and they have moved too! One little guy was kicking the other the whole time! :) We go back in another 3 weeks for the big appt. We will be HALFWAY!!! I can't believe it. The Dr. says everything is perfect and the babies look great. My uterus is the size of a 20 woman which is normal. I am growing quickly! Well, making my Target run...for great boy deals! So long...

2 years ago today...We were boarding a plane for Hawaii!

Ok, so looking at pictures from our wedding day was one thing...looking at pictures from our honeymoon is another! I would LOVE to be boarding a plane to Hawaii right now (wouldn't everyone...I know). Our honeymoon was an awesome trip. We could not have asked for one thing better. Nine days of "us" time. We didn't have a care in the world! I know there are quite a few pictures but I just couldn't pick...

Above: We painted coconuts to be sent home (by US Postal Service) to our parents. Yes, they opened up their mailboxes in MO and had a coconut in there!

Beach Day!

Another beach day, this one I remember because we "off roaded" in the rental...LOL

Ah, sunset

Traditional Picture (It's mostly for Mark's mom, its' something they do)
We did something really special on our Honeymoon. Mark is a golfer, like played his way through college and so on...He always wanted to have his wedding ring tattooed (sp?) on because he can't play with his ring. I decided to do it with him! So...married is FOREVER to there we are! Both of our wedding rings cover the tattoo so unless we aren't wearing our rings you can't see them.

If you ever get the chance to go to Hawaii, don't pass it up!

It's been 2 years today!

The Church Mr. & Mrs.
Waiting for pictures...

4 of the 10 Bridesmaids... My sister, My Maid of HonorHappy Anniversary to us! I can't believe it's been 2 years. I know there are many more to come and they are going to just keep getting better and better. Our wedding day was one of the best days of my life. I always tell Mark I would go back and do it again from that morning until the second we get off the plane to home from our honeymoon. It was amazing. Mark and I have our wonderful parents to thank for such an AMAZING time. I pray someday my daughter (if I have one) will be able to have a day as GREAT as mine! Above are a few pictures from the wedding day, I couldn't find very many on my computer. :( Come back tomorrow and see the will be a quick visit to HAWAII!

Last day of vacation :(

Today was the last day of my Christmas Break. It's a bittersweet time. I miss all my students but Mark doesn't go back until next week and we have really had a great time together. It is so fun hanging out with him sun up to sun down. We were talking the other night and this has been one of the best Christmas's we have had! We have been so blessed in many ways during this break. God is good! Today my dad came up to do some work on our basement. He is building a wall to create an office in our basement since our office has now become the twins room. Since he had to bring a trailer he was able to bring up the crib! Yes, we are only using 1 crib for a while. "They" say it's been to keep twins in the same bed for a while after you bring them home because they are used to being so close together. It creates a better sleeping for them, which in return for...US too! We now have the crib and one dresser, only 1 dresser to go. We have taken down and patched all the needed touch-ups in the room. We are leaving the room light brown so the paint is ready to go. I am 15 weeks today! We go to the Dr. on Thursday...I can't wait. It feels like forever since we have seen them! Have a great week everyone!

(something to be thankful for from 2009) We have become friends with 3 other married couples Mark met at school. He is friends with the guys and all the wives hit it off! We always have SO much fun when we all get together. Last night was great!
