Show Us Your Life-Christmas Traditions

This week at Kelly's Korner is all about Christmas Traditions. I LOVE CHRISTMAS...and that is an understatement! This is the second Christmas I have celebrated as a married woman. I love having our own home to decorate. As for traditions....well...

Growing up we had traditions...every year each one of us (my sister, brother, and I) all picked out a Hallmark ornament. Upon getting married and moving out I was given all my ornaments. Mark's family also had this tradition so when we got married we already had a filled tree, not to mention one of my bridal showers everyone brought an ornament! So...last year I set up 2 trees at our house. I could only find a picture of one of them.

Growing up we have the traditions of who's side of the family we go to on which day/eve. When Mark and I got married we decided because of the traveling we would take turns. We see my family on Christmas Day one year and his on Christmas Eve and then swap the next! It's the only fair way.....

Growing up we were very close to 4 families. (vacations, church, SuperBowl, New Year's Eve) We spent a lot of time with them. As time has passed the "kids" have started getting married...having children....below is a picture of the "Annual Curtis Christmas Dinner." My mom has everyone over! It's so fun to see everyone! It's always a great time setting the timer for this picture. LOL!
Mark and I have just started traditions in our home. The psat 5 years I have joined the crazy people on Black Friday...and shopped starting at 3 a.m. with Mark's mom, aunts, sister, and cousins. It's so fun! While we are shopping Mark and his dad have started their own tradition of setting up the outside lights on both their house and ours. Then in the evening Mark and I set up the Christmas decorations inside our home.
Next year things may be a little different. We are going from just the 2 of us to a family of 4 in a blink....the twins will be a little older than 6 months next Christmas! AH! We are so excited to see what God has in store for us! We KNOW it's going to be good! :) We keep looking at eachother at random times and say "can you believe next year we are going to be taking 2 babies with us?" WOW!
P.S. Visit tomorrow to find out....IDENTICAL or FRATERNAL TWINS!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! What a great day...Thanksgiving is by far my 2 favorite holiday. (Everyone knows Christmas is my favorite) Thanksgiving has always been a relaxing holiday for Mark and I. Our families Thanksgiving's are not at the same time and we have even enough for our 2 hour travel! We are already praying our babies are great in the car! :) I have been wanting to change the background to Christmas...TODAY IS THE DAY!
Mark and I have so much to be thankful for..even in the past month! Next year this time we are going to be a family of 4...WOW! That's even hard to type. LOL We are so excited. We go on Tuesday for another ultrasound. Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait! Both grandma's (Eesie and Maw-Maw) and coming...hope the Dr. office is ready for this.
I pray everyone has a great Thanksgiving and is able to spend time with family and friends.
Happy Holidays!

Cute things...

I am just so excited! One of my very best friends bought us these cute little pumpkin outfits. Don't you just love them!?!!? The one of the left is the back and the one on the right is the front. Fancy how that works so well with needing 2 of everything!??! :)

My sister-in-law and her family just got back from a trip to Disney and the brought the babies back something cute! We don't know if they are boys or girls yet...(though in exactly 1 week from today we will know if they are identical or not)...but if they are girls we can add some bows and a cute skirt/leggings. :)

Nursery Ideas...already?!?!?!

I can't help that I am already thinking about the BABIES nursery! The room is currently being used as an office and we painted it brown, not dark brown, a neutral brown. :) We have decided we are going to keep it brown! (less to do the better, the list is already long and overwhelming) Mark and I aren't big fans of cute, cartoon, babyfied (if that's a word) rooms. We like simple, mod looking but still where it looks like people live there! I am so blessed that we are going to be able to use MY baby furniture! There was only 1 problem, there is only 1 crib. That wasn't a problem for long though, my sister-in-law offered her children's crib they will be finished with and my Uncle also offered a crib. We are set with furniture, GOD PROVIDES! We have decided to do the "gender neutral" thing too. We aren't positive if we want to find out the sex yet so either way we are going light green, brown, and tan. I know, it kind of sounds boring...but it's not! Here is what I have so far...

Babies R Us had this awesome comforter/blanket on clearance...and there was only 2 left...fancy that?!?!

My mother-in-law is an awesome artist, she is going to paint these animals on canvas for the walls.

I recently found 2 mobiles that I love and the GREAT thing about twins, I can get both, I don't have to decide which one to get...LOVE IT!

I know I will have to do some work on them to make them just perfect but it can be done. The elephant one is the KidsLine Brand, it's the same as the blankets. The giraffe one I found on JcPenny's website, it's the CoCaLo Brand....I just love them!

Well, that's about all I have at this point but we still have time. :) Now if only I could get my dad to get started on building an office in our basement. "Love ya, Dad!"

Twin Ipo Stroller..LOVE it!!

My brother-in-law and his wife bought us our first BIG BABY gift! It was so fun seeing it on our front door! It's a Graco Twin Ipo stroller. I love the colors! Mark and I had to teach eachother how to open and close it. LOL If you can have only been a fly on the wall in our living room that night! (the quality of the picture isn't that good because it's taken by my phone) If you can't tell...I WAS EXCITED!

Show Us Your Life -PETS

It's Friday again, this week seems like it lasted FOREVER! Finally! This week Kelly's Korner "Show us your life" topic is PETS! If you know me (or Mark) at all you know we LOVE our pups! We have already started reading up on how to introduce your baby to pets...or in our case babies!?!? If anyone has any suggestions...I would love to hear what worked for you!

Mark's Aunt and Uncle had a litter of Labradoodle (mix between a lab and poodle) puppies in April 2007. We were engaged and decided we really wanted one. Who wouldn't puppies are so cute...right!?!?

We have SO many pictures with our dogs, bear with me...I couldn't decide on just a few. I can't imagine what our pictures are going to be like with 2 children!

We were able to bring Ely home at 7 weeks. He was 13 oz. when he was born, he was 13 pounds when we brought him home. :) Mark and I lived in different apartments in different towns...we had to take turns taking care of him back and forth. It was interesting...:)

The picture above is of Mark and Ely the day we got to take him home! We named him Ely Callaway Schmitz. Mark is a put it lightly...he played all the way through college...we had to name him something that had to do with golf. :) The pictures below are pictures of Ely's first vet visit. Yes...I know....we took pictures at the office. LOL

These next few pictures are snapshots as he grew...

He HATES to wear clothes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then Ely turned 1!! WOW WOW WOW~ He was in a litter of 10 puppies, Mark's Aunt and Uncle had a b-day party and invited all 10 puppies a year later! It was crazy...all 10 were there! It was so neat to see every puppy all grown up!

Ely is about 100 pounds and still thinks he is a lap dog. He still sleeps between us everynight and is extremely protective of me. Then in 2008 Mark and I went insane for a short period of time...and bought another dog. A Standard Poodle...Logan Birch. Mark is currently in school at Logan College of Chiropractic and we used a special street name as his middle name. :)

As a good mom, I took pictures of Ely's first vet appt. so it's only fair if I take them at Logans...

Ely and Logan are BEST buds. Logan adores Ely and follows him everywhere! I don't know what they would do without eachother...I don't know what we would do without them! Enjoy the rest of the pictures....Happy Friday!

We can't forget we did have a b-day party for Logan when he turned 1! It wasn't as big as Ely's but it was still a great time!

"You can't be showing at 8 weeks..."

Ok, I haven't quite decided if I am going to post pictures regularly of my belly on my blog. I still need some time to think about it. For the time being though, I wanted to clear up the "you/she can't be showing...she's only 8 weeks" Really?!?! Did they just say that? Did they just TRY with ALL their might to button their pants and they not fit? I don't think so...I will post these 8 week pictures for ALL to see. Enjoy!

Thanksgiving Traditions

Last week Kelly's Korner was Thanksgiving Traditions. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Since I have been married Thanksgiving is a holiday that is relaxed! We (my cousins and my siblings) have always spent the night with our Aunt and Uncle on Thanksgiving Eve. This is always a fun night, we have done many things over the years. (gone to the movies, went to dinner, go-carts, even just stayed in and ordered pizza) We wake up on Thanksgiving morning and eat breakfast with my mom's side of the family. HOMEADE BISCUITS AND GRAVY!!! Then we travel to Grandma's house (my dad's mom) for lunch and relaxation! What a day right?!!?
Well....then I got married....:) Mark and I have started our own traditions too! We are able to make everyone happy and not even feel stressed. After eating with my grandma instead of sleeping on the couch, with everyone else, we pack up and head to St. Louis.
Thankfully Mark's family has Thanksgiving at his parents, both sides, over 40 people!!! It's so fun!! We usually get there just in time to....EAT AGAIN!! What else do you do on Thanksgiving? His family Thanksgiving is like no other. I am pretty sure they eat twice. The big dinner...wait a bit...pies....then leftovers with Durkee. (Don't know if that's the correct spelling!?!?) You can't talk bad about it until you have given it a try. Then as the night goes on all the women begin to plan the strategy for the next morning. When I say morning I mean...3 am!!!! Oh yes!!! SHOPPING!!!! The "day after Thanksgiving shopping" is an entire post in itself! :)
This year Mark and I have decided to start a small tradition in our home. My mom recently gave a book to me about Thanksgiving. (I will post title later) We are going to read a little each Thursday evening when we have dinner, something someday do with our family. :)
There is a little insight to our Thanksgiving Traditions! Enjoy this time!

It's been a rough few days...

Mark and I recieved a call Sunday morning that my grandpa passed away. It's been a really tough week. We made a trip to Cape and back on Tuesday/Wednesday. I had never lost a grandparent before, it's not easy. My grandma is such a strong lady! God is a rock and he will get all our family through this...please pray for my family through this tough time.
